MINUTBS OF 'mE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
EELD AT THE CITY Hl;LL, TUESDAY, HAY~, 1939, 7:40 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by pIe3ident O.H.Keene,
other Councilmen present being Roy Lassiter, "P.B.Roe, and
R.M.Stackhouse. Mayor Brown, Marshall Cleaver, and St.
Supt. ~.p.Anderson were also present.
Minutes of the meetings of April 4th and 25th were read
and approved.
Mr. Lassiter made a motion that The City m~~ deed
Mr. C.O.Roe a five foot strip of land adjoining lot 1, block
1, Riviera Heights, in exchan~ for a deed to the triangular
park at the intersection of Fifth St, Riviera Road, and
Tiviola Road. Mr. StacWhouse seconded the motion, which
carried when put to a vote,
Hayor Brown read his report, 1J'../'rIich inc luded a Ie tter
from Geo. Westbrook, City Attorney, and also one from
th3 Mayor of Sebring regarding their debt settlement.
Mr. Las si ter mane a moti on, which was seconded by Mr.
Stackhouse, and carried, that Mayor Brown be authorized to
see about securing a lot on which to erect a bu:J.lding to
be used as a Fh'st Aid Sta tion; the erection of' the building
and its operation to be sponsored by the Junior Welfare League.
Mr. Roe made a motion that the Street Committee have
a fire hydrant installed at the intersection of Broome and
Seventh Streets. The moti on was seconded by ~:~r. Lassi ter,
and wgen put to a vote, carried.
~'~r. Stackhouse rrade a motion that the City Marshall
be given ~5.00 to purchase poison to try to rid the City of
rats, and that all citizens be asked to co-operate in the
movement. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lassiter, and
when put to a vote, carried.
Mr. Stackhouse made a motion, which was seconded by
Mr. Roe a,d carrtrl, that the wa~s of Crenshaw Hough be
raised to $14.50 per week.
Hr. Roe made a motion that the Clermont Chamber of
Commerae be offered block 89A south of' Center Lake, or the
Park at the south end of Twelf'th Street on Lake Minnehaha,
fOl~ a Hotel Si te, provided they ~sn induce the owners of
th e Hotel at Polk Cit y to move the hotel to Clermont. The
motion was seconded by Fr. Stackh.ouse, and 'vIlhen put to a
vote, the motion carrie n .

lYlr. Las si te r then offered an Ordinance controlling tl1 e
conditions under which milk sold in Clermont mxxX may be ~
produced, inspection od dairies, and labeling products.
The Ordinance was read in full and numbered Ordinance No. 38.
Mr. Lassiter moved its adoption, Which was seconded by Mr.
Sta ckhouse and carrie d. Mr. Lassi ter then moved tha t the
rules be waived, and that the Ordinance be passed to its
second reading. Thn motion was seconded by Mr. Stackhouse,
and when put to a vote, carried. Thereupon t e Ordinance Was
read in full. Mr. Lassiter then moved that the Ordinance
be adopted. The motion was seconded by Mr. Stackhouse, and
on roll call the vote was as ~ollows: AYES, Keene, Lassiter,
Roo, S ta ckhous e; NOES -none. So the Ordinance was pa s sed
ti tIe as sm. ted, and was signed by the President of the Ci ty
Council and by the City Clerk am. Certified to the Dr1ayor, WhO
s&gned it as da ted. The Ordinance appears in the Ordinance
Book in full.

Mr. Roe ~de a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Lassiter,
that R. F. Anderson be authorized to gat 10 bagei of cement
to build apron to carry off surplus water at the intersection
of Orange Ave. and East Ave. The motion carried.
The following bills were approved and ordered paid
when money is available.

Kehlor Park until further notice. The moti on was seconded
by Mr. Lassiter, and when pu to . vote the motion carried.
Prestdent Keene called a special meeting to be held
at the City Hall, Saturday, May 6, -1939, 11:00 A.M.
There being no further business, the Council adjourned
to meet at the call of the president.
