02-07-1939 Regular Meeting ~ ~ ~q, ,I / ;IV ~ -~ CI TY OF CLERlWNT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR l'IEETING OF THE CITY COUNC IL HELD AT THE CITY HALL TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1939, 7:30 P.M. The meeting was ~alled to order by pres&dent O.H. Keene, other Councilmen present being A.M.Johnson, R.L. Lassiter, F.B.Roe, and R.M.Stackhouse. Mayor H.C.Brown Marshall H.S.Cleaver, City Attorney Geo.F. Westbrook, and Street Supt. R.F.Anderson were also present. Minutes of the meetings Jan. 3rd and Jan 30th were read and approved. Hr. IJass1ter, chairman of a special committee to see about having the ffre siren moved to the top of the City Hall, reported the siren had been moved and wired, and was ready for connection as soon~ the Florida Public Service Co. could get a special line in for this service. M~or'Brown's report was read in which several recommendations were made; the Council taking action on some of them. Mr. Roe made a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Lassiter and carried; that Mayor Brown ascebtain from the City Clerk what Cit~r owned properties might be traded fer lots north of Center lake, and a strip of land along the lake shore of Lake Minneola between Second and third Streets now owned by Takahashi, and report back to the Council at its next meeting. Mrs. Winston, representing the A.B.C. Committee, which has charge of the Community Building in Kehlor Park, asked ,\'" the Council to guarantee the salary of Mrs Sharpe as care- taker, amounting to ~120.00 per year. After some dis- cussion, the Council postponed action until a later date. After some discussion of the crowded condition of th~ ~ streets in the neighborhood of the Baptist Church when cars 1. are parked there during church services, Mr. Roe made a . motion, seconded by Mr. Lassiter, which carried, that the I ~ regulation of traffic and parking be given to the Street I ~ Committee, with power to act. I 'Y Mr. Roe made a motion that the Fire & Building Committee see Mr. Pool about his house at ~ 679 Montrose Street, which is unsafe) and a serious fire and health menace, to have the condition rem&died or the building demolished. The motion was seconded by Mr. Johnson, and when put to a vote, carried. Mr. Westbrook reported tnat the case against the City Officials in the Federal Court at Tampa, had been postponed until the latter part of March, when Court would be held in Orlando. He also reported that Leedy ~~eeler Co. were progressing with the refunding program and expected to get it started sometime this month. Marshall Cleaver's report was read and ordered filed. Mr. Roe made a motion, seconded by Mr Lassiter, that a duplicate of check No. 815 be issued to Clermont Motor Co., the original having been lost; ann payment on the original check stopped at the bank. When put to a vote, the motion carried. Mr. Stackhouse made a motion that the Library building be painted two coats, both inside and out, under the direction of F.B.Roe, chairman of the Park Committee. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lassiter, and when put to a vote, carried. Mr. Roe made a motion that City Attorney Westbrook be instructed to prepare a bill for passage by the next Legislature, Clearly defining the corporate limits of the City of Clermont from the point of intersevtion of the center line of Hook Street with the eastern shore of Lake Mi~~~a to the east line of palatla~~~_p~~~~s being th~~re line of Lake ~innehaha an ~ a~:Palatlakaha. Mr. Stackhouse seconded the motion, and when put to a vote, the motion carried.
