CITY HALL, TUESDAY, AUGUST 2, 1938, 8.1)!) P.M.
The regular monthly meeting of the Council was called to
order by President O.R.Keene" other Councilmen present being
Geo. Robinson and A.M. Johnson. Maypr Brown, City Attorney
Gem Westbrook, ~~ Marshall Sanders, and St. Supt. R.F.Anderson
were also present. Mr. F.B. Roe came in a few minutes later.

Minutes of ~he July 5th meeting were read and approved,
after inserting that "President O.H.Keene came in a few minutes
late and presided for the rest of the meeting".
J'Tayor Brown's report was read, in which he stated that
the Mayor's court had handled three cases, assessing fines of
$35.00 and caacelling the license and closing the Golliday
Beer Parlor. Several recommendations were made, which were
acted on by the Council.
Mr. Roe moved that a faucet be put in for the Colored
Baptist Church provided the Church would pay the cost of
installing it, andkeep it locked except during servic'es at
the Church. The motion was seconded by Mr. Johnson, and
when put to a vote, carried.
Mr. Johnson made a motion that t"e Council go on record
as favoring a ~.P.A. project to hire a City Librarian if such
plan can be worke,i out without cost tomthe City. The motion
was seconded by Mr. Robinson and carried.
~r. Robinson made a motion that propositions of Mr.
Percival and Mr. Takahashi to trade some property suitable
for Park purposes to the City for some City owned lots,' be
referred to the Park Committee. The motion was seconded by
~r. Johnson and carrie~.
City Attorney Westbrook reported that a Writ hadq~een
issued by the Federal Cou~rt on a suit by a holder of several
thousand dollars of past due coupons of Clermont Bonds, which
requires a special levy over a period of 15 years. He also
r'~orted that the debt settlement was progressing, but very
slowly.
Mr. Robinson moved that the Mayor investigate and see if
1~t~ the proper kind of clay for the W.P.A. street project
can be secured. The motion was second;d by Mr. Roe and carried.
Marxhall Sanders report was read, in which he stated that'
since Jan 1, thirty stray dogs that had not been innoculated
for rabies, had been dis~osed of, and that others would be
taken care of as fast as he found them.
The daily reports of the Street Supt. were examined by
members of the Council, and ordered filed.
The Fire Chief's report was read, in which he stated that
all lake fire plugs had been tested with the pumper, and were
in working order except where) fish had gotten in them. The
engine was checked each week and found O.K.
Mr. Roe made a motion, saconded by Mr. Robinson, and
carried, that the Street Supt. make screens of hardware cloth
for each lake fire plug, and put them on the end' of the suction
pipes as soon as they can be tested again.
