MINUTES OF ME ETING OF 'iRE CITY COUNCIL HEID AT THE CITY
HALL, TUESDAY, JULY 5th, 1938, 8:00 P.M.
The regular meeting of the City Council was called
to order By Vice-~esident Robinson at 8:00 ~.M., other
Councilm:n present 00 ing Roy Lassiter and F.B.Roe.
Mayor H.C.Brown, Marshall Ernest Sanders, Street S~~. .

Minutes of the meetings re 1d June 7th, June 20th,
June 21st, and June 24th were read and approved.
Mr. Robinson made a motion that the regular meetings
until the November 1938 meeting be held at 8:00 P.M.
instead of 7:30 P.M. The motion was seconded by Mr. Roe
andwhen put to a vote , carried.

Wayor Brown read his report, stating ~lere had been one
arrest and fine of $150.00 aB~essed. He said the W.PA.
project for improving certain streets had been signed and
forwarded to the district office with request for prompt
attention. Information from federal agencies states that
Federal Funds for home building and repairs will be available
as soon as the millage is fixed for this year. Be rscommended
that reflector signal be placed at the intersection of fWelfth
Street and Lake ~annem ha Drive.
Mr. Roe I1ll de a motion that when the millage for 1938
is levien in September, the Council gp on record as being in
favor of making it 16 mills. . Mr. Robinson secondIed the
motion, and when put to a vote, it carried.
Mr. Roe made a motion, seconded by Mr Robinson, and
ca rried, that the City get siJ( ref1e ctor danger signals to
be placed at dan@3r points; and that one be placed at t're
end of. Bowman Street at Lake Minnehaha Drive, after which
the street light at that point is to be discontinued.
Marshall Sanders report was read and ordered filed.

Street Supt. Ander.son' s repcrt was read.
Mr. Roe stated that a man :had offered to spade up the
Library grounds and plant it to grass for $3.00.' Mr.
Robinson made a motion, secomded by Mr. Lassiter, and c
carrie d, that Mr. Roe ha ve the work done.
Mr. Roe rrade a motion that the Fire Chief test all
lake fire plugg at once with the Pumper, and see that they are
in good working order. The motion was seconded by Mr.
Robinson, and when put to a vote, carried.
Wr. Robinson made a Motion that the Marshall see that
all perso:n doing cons truction work or' ha vlng work done,
secur e a J1~lIrlrl'ti: building pe rmit before proceeding with the
work; and where pe rmi t m s not been s scured, to s top such
work until a permit is obtained. Mr. Roe seconded 1h emotion,
and when put to a vote the motton carried.

Mr. Lassita" made a motion, seconded by ~4r. Roe, and
ca rr:le n, tha t.r(egular Employeesof the City be given a two
weeks Vl3.cation with pay, if it can be arranged so there
will be no extra expense to the City.
Mr. Morse reported for City Attorney Westbrook about
the suit of a bondholder in the Federal Court, stating that
an answer ha d be en filed, and asking that the City pay the
expense incurred, amounting to $10.00.
"r. Robinson made a moti on, seconded by Mr. Roe that
Mr. Westbrook bo paid ~10.00 for expenses incursed in the
suit mentioned above. The motion carried.
