IHNUTES OF SPECIAL I.iEETING /'
OF THE CITY COUNCIL, HELD
ON JUNE 21, 1938

The City Council met pursuant to a call of the
ilresident at 8:00 P. K. on Tuesday, June 21, 1938
at the City Hall. Upon roll call it was found that
the following were present:

F. B. Roer:-
Absent:
Councilmen A. Li. Johnson
Geo. A. Robinson
ri~a:'or H. C. Brown, City Clerk R. F. House, and City
b.ttorney Geo. F. (',estbrook were also present.
President Keene stated that the meeting had been
called for the Council to sit as a canvassing board
to canvass the results of the special election held
on this date. Mr. C. W. Roe, Clerk of the Election
Board, was present and presented to the Council the
certificate of the Election Board as to the result
of the election which was in words and figures
as follows:

We the undersigned inspectors and clerk
of election, do hereqy certify the result of
the election held this date to be as follows:
Total number of ballots cast . . . 305
Number of ballots rejected ... 2
Total number counted . . . . 303
of which the following propositions received
the number of votes set opposite the same:
For Bonds . . . . . . . . . . . . .180
Against Bonds . . . . . . . . .. 123
We certify the above to be correct.

Mr. C. W. Hoe, Clerk of the Election Board, then
delivered to the Council the ballots and 4a11~ sheets
amthe Council proceeded to canvass the returns of
the city election', which upon being completed was
found to be exactly in accordance with the certificate
of the Election Board aoove quoted.
It ~as thereupon found and determined by the City
Council that the total number of registered, qualified
voters who are freeholders in the City of Clermont was
315; that 305 ballots were cast and counted at the said
election; and it was therefore found and determined that
a majority of the qualified electors of the City who are
freeholders had participated in the said election.

It was found further and determined by the Council
that 180 votes were cast "for bonds" and that 123 votes
were cast "against bonds", and it was thereupon found
and determined by the Council that the propoation "for
bonds" had received a majority of the votes cast at
said election.
On motton Of VIr. Roe the City Attorney was instruct ed
to notify the Fiscal Agent of the city of the result
of the election.
There being no further business the Cou~cil
adjourned to ~eet at the call of the President.
