MINUTES OF TKI~ REGULAR I'.mETING OF THE CITy COUNCIL HELD AT
THE CITY ffi\LL TUESDAY, MARCH 2, 193 8, 8:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by prsident O.H.Keene,
other councilmen present being Roy Lassiter and Geo. Robinson.
Councilmen ~.M.Johnson and F.B.Roe came in later. May&r
H.C.Brown, Marshall Ernest Sanders, City Attorney Geo. F.
Westbrook, and Street ~up~. R.F.Anderson.
Minutes of the meeting February 2nd were :ead and approved.

Attorney Westbrook reported that all the necessary papers
for tbe transfer of th3 Cooper Memorial Librayy to the City
bad been p~ared, and turned over t'o F.B.Roe to secure the
signanuras\ of the donors.
~r. I.R.McKinstry was present and asked that the Council
have an approach to Division Street from Drew Avenue built.
Mr. Hobinson made a motion that the Street Supt. build a
concrete approach similar to the one from Bowman Street, and
fill the holes in Division Street with clay. The motion
was seconded by Mr. Eassiter, and carried.

Mayor Brown is report was read in which he suggested"
that Er~est 0anders be appointed Sanitation inspector and
Hea.lth Officer; ~hat residents be notified that open garbage
pits are very unsanitary, causing obnoxious odors and attracting
flies etc. Also, the necessity of some work project under
the W.P.A. to take care of the unemployed this summer.
Hrj'.Kobinson made a motion, seconded by Mr. ~9lmson,
and carried, that the City Council approve two projects-
Improved housing facilities for colored residents, am a
Sea wallalong the shore of Lake Minneola9 and that Mr. F.B.
Roe be appointed to work with Mr. Brown on KKMXM getting
a Federal appropriation for these projects, under the W.P.A.
program.
By motion of Er.Robinson, seconded by Mr. Johnson and
carried, Ernest Sanders was appointed Sanitation !nspect~
an-1 Health Officer in addition to his other duties.
A petitJio.n of several citizens asking for a street light
at the intersection of Eleventh Street and Minneola Avenue
was read; and Mr.Robinson made a motion, seconded by Mr.
Lassi ter, and carried, that the City Clerk see if such light
would be instalied by t'he Florida Public Service Co. without
cost except the regular monthly charge per light.
By mot50n of rlr. Robinson, seconded. by Mr,Lassiter, and
carried, the following bills were approved and ordered paid
when money is available:
