01-04-1938 Organizational Meeting MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE CITY HALL, TUESDAY' JANUARY 4, 1935,10:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Vice president Geo. Robinson, and administered the Oath of office to the Mayor-elect, H.C.Brown. Mayor Brown then administered the Oath of office to W.E.Stansell as Treasurer, and to F.B.Roe as Councilman. ~ 'W' Mr. Robinson then announced that nominations for president of the Council were in order. O.R.Keene's name was offered. Mr. Roe made a motion that the nominations be closed and that Mr. Keene be declared elected unanimousl~. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lassiter, and carried without dissent. Mr. Robinson was then nominated for Vice-president and Mr Roe made a motion that the nominations close, and Mr.Robinson declared elected. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lassiter, and on being put to a vote, carried unanimously. Mayor Brownvs letter to the Council was read, in which he stated the present situation of the Bond settlement agreement with the Bond-holders, with the expectation that it would soon be in shape to present to the people.. He recommended combining the dut.ies of some of the City employes, having one man for Marshall and Water Superintenden~, and one man for Superintendent of Streets, Park and Cemetery. Re also recommended a change in the personnal of the Zoning Commission. Mr. Lassitermade a motion that the Council go into executive session for the selection of City Employees for 1938. The motion was seconded by Mr. JOhnson, and carried unanimously. All parsons present except the Mayor and members of the Council were asked to vacate the buildin~. In the executive session, R.F.House was appointed City Clerk at a salary of $125.00 per month. The applications of C.C.Lee and Charles W. Cook for the position of Marshall were read. Ernest Sanders was appointed Marshall and Inspector with the additional duties of Water Superintendent at a Salary of $125.00 per month. R.F.Anderson was appointed Superintendent of Streets, Cemetery, and Parks at a salary of $85.00 per month. John Achord was appointed Fire Chief at a salary of $25,00 per month. Mr. Lassiter made a motion that in the future, when a fire call is answered to any place where the owner ~ or tenant is not using City water, the ovmer of the property shall be charged $25.00 for the use of the Fire equipment plus $2.00 for each fireman answering the call. The motion was seconded by Mr. Roe, and carried. The report of the City Clerk houses and business plac~s of the Street Committee and numbers will possible.. Mr. Roe made a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Johnson and carried, that the membership of the Zon~ng Commission previously appointed be rescinded, and that a new commission be appointed, consisting of the followin~ men: F.B.Kraiderll I.E'.Burtis, ErneeJt Denslow, A.L.Izlar, and R.
