01-04-1938 Regular Meeting ~ ~ ~ ~ 'e MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUnCIL HELD IN THE CIrrY HALL, TUESDAY, JANUARY 4, 1938, 8:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Vice-president Geo. Robinson, other Councilmen present being A.' . Johnson, R.L.Lassiter, and F.B. Roe. Mayor H.C.Brown, Marshall C.E.Sullins, Street Supt. R.F.Anderson, Water Supt. Ernest Sanders, and Treasurer W.E.Stansell, were also present. Minutes of the Regular meeting December 7, and the Special meeting December.' 22, 1937 were read and approved. Mr. Robinson then asked any Citizens who had any matters to discuss with the Counoil, to do so at that time. Mrso F.B.Kreider,prepident of th',3 Woman's Club, read a report of the Library Committee of t he Woman's Club, which stated that the owners of the property known as "The Cooper Memorial Library" would deed the lot and building to the City of Clermont under certain conditions, if the City would assume all financial responsibility for the property; and the Woman's Club agreed to give the service necessary, until such time as the City could employ a re~lar Librarian. Afber some discuss~on of t~e report, Mr. Roe made a motion which was seconded by Mr. Lassiter and carried, that a committee be appointed to investi~ate the proposition, as to the financial responsibility and the legality of it, and a special meeting of the Council to be called as soon possible to act on the matter. Mr. Robinson appointed Mr. Roe and Mr. Lassiter ,,'as a C~mmittee to meet with tho Library Committee, Mrs. E.~. Haskell and Mrs. A.D.Fleshman. Mayor BroJiIl's report w:as read, in which he commended the council for the work done in the past year, particularly the improvements in Kehlor Park. Mr. Lassiter made a motion that the Council extend to Mr. F.B.Roe a vote of appreciation and thanks for the efforts he has made in bringing about this improvement. The motion was seconded by Mr. Johnson, and carried. Reports of the Marshall, Fire Chief, and Water Supt. were read and ordered filed. A letter from Mr. W.W.Gillespie, County Sur~or was read. Mr. Roe made a motion, seconded by Lassiter, whic~ carried, that the matter of a survey of the southern boundar y of the City be postponedo Mr. Roe made a notion that the water account of Mrs. A.O.Spurr, amounting to $3.50, which was charged through error, be cancelled. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lassiter and carried. Roe made a motion that the names of the partles owing the above accounts be listed, and no water furnished them until the old account KKd is paid in full, and a meter deposit paid. The motion was seconded by Lassiter and ~arried. By motion of Mr. Roe, seconded by Mr. Jctu190n, the matter of charges for the use of fire equipment at the fire on the property of Mr. S.C.Perry was turned over to Mr. Lassiter. The motion carried. ~ ~ By Motion of Mr. Roe, seconded by Mr. Johnson, which carried, Mayor Brown was asked to take care of t~e matter of delinquent taxes on the lot east of the City Hall which was donated to the City by Mr. Percival.
