MINuTES OF' THE REGUIJAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCI L HELD
AT THE CITY HALL, TUESDAY,DECEMBER 7, 1937, 7:30 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by President O.H.
Keene, other Councilmen present being A.M.Johnson, R.L.
Lassiter, Geo. Robinspn and F.B.Roe. Mayor Brown,
Marshall Sullins, Street Supt. R.F.Anderson, and Water Supto
Ernest Sanders were also present.
Minutes of the meeting of No~ember 2nd were read and
approved.

The City Clerk presented the petib4ens from citizens
of Clermont for names to be placed on the ballot at the
Municipal Election to be held at the City Hall, Tuesday,
December 14, 1937.
Mr. Roe made a motion, which was seconded by Mr.Lassiter
and carried, that all petitions signed by the required
number of qualified electors and filed with the City Clerk,
be placed on the ballot for the City Election, if, in the
opinion of the City Attorney, the petitions were legally
filed. The petitions of the following men fOD the office
indicated, were found to have the required number of
qualified signersl

For Councilman- R.E.Bronson, O.H.Keene, S.C.Perry,
V.B.Roa.
Mr. W. T. Williams, representing C.Cecil Bryant,C.P.A.,
presented his report of the annual audit of the City books,
covering the period of November 1,1936 to October 31, 1937.
Mr. ~'oe made a motion, seconded by Mr. Lassiter, which
carr&ed, that the audit report be accepted as read and
two recommendations as to changes in handling the checking
account a:eeeunt in the bank be mad-e.
Mr. Robinson made a motion, which was seconded by Mr.
Lassiter and carried, that the City Clerk make a list of
uncollectible water accounts to be presented to the Council
at the next regular meeting.
Mr. Robinson made a motion, which was seconded by Mr.
Lassiter and carried, that the City Clerk be given authority
to trade in the old adding machine on a new one ~ the price
offfered by Cole & Company of Ocala.
The Mayors report was read in which he discussed the
bond settlement situation, the report containing this
Statement; "I would strongly recommend to the Council that
when the refunding agreement is finally accepted by the
Council, that the adoption of the agreement be contingent
on the approval of the taxpayers of the City, and a special
election called for that purpose, and the Council at this
time pass an order requiring such election."
Mr. Robinson made a motion that when tha City Council
reaches an agreement with the Bontlholders on a plan of
settlement, a special election will be called to ratify
the agreement, and such agreement shall be contingent on
the rasu1t of the votes of the freeholders of the City.
The motion was seconded bY.Mr. Roe, and on roll call the
vote was a s follows: Ayes'-Johnson,Keene, Lassiter,
Robinsong Roe; Noes- none.

Mr. Roe Made a motion, seconded by Mr. Robinson
that the City Clerk buy enough second hand 2" galvanized
pipe to extend the water lines to the negro section of
the Cemetery, as they have agreed to plant grass and care
for it if the City will supply tlle water.

Supt. were read.

Mr. Robinson then introduced the following Ordinance:
"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER XXII OF THE REVISED GENERAL
ORDINAN GES OF THE CITY OF CL ERMONT, PERTAINING TO THE
NUMBERING OF HOUS ES . " which WaS read in full and' numbered
Ordinance No. 34. Mr. Robinson moved its adoption, which
was seconded by Mr. Roe, and carried. Mr. Robinson then
made a motion that the rules be waived, and that the Ordi-
nance be passed to its second reading. The motion was sec-
onded by Mr. Roe, an~ upon being put to a vote, carried.
The reupon the Ordinance was read in full. Mr. Robinson
then made a motion that the Ord~nance be adopted, which was
seconded by Mr. Roe, andon roll call the vote was as follows:
AYES- JOhnso, Keene, Lassiter, Robinson, RCB; NOES- none.
So the Ordinance passed, title as stated, and was signed by
the president of the City Council an~ by the City Clerk, and
immediately certified to the Mayor, who signed it December
7th. The Ordinance appears in the Ordinance Book in full.
By motion of Mr. RObinson, seconded by Mr. Lassiter

Mr. Robinson made a motion, seconded by Mr Roe,
which carried, that the City Clerk find out from the
County Surveyor and from C.H.Willard, the cost of
locating the south boundary ot! t\.e City.

adjourned to meet at the call of the President.
