The meeting was called to order by president O.B.Keene at 7:40, other Counci~nen present being !, .I'I. Johnson, Roy ~asoi ter, and F. 3.Roe. ~.Iayor H.C.Brmm, I!larshall C.E.Sullin:J, rv::,.:l;lJr Supt. Ernest Sanders, and Street Supt. R. F. Anderson were also present. Cou~Gilman Geo Robinson arrived a few minutes later. ~ ,., Minut03 of the previous meeting were road and approved. The Mayor'~ ~3port, with recommendations was read. Fr. Roe nade a motion, seconded by ?,!r. La3siter, that a committee be appointed to investigate 'and see if favorable ac~ion could be obtained from the Federal Govcrn:rr.a,nt to !)rovide homes and a community hall for the colored residents in Lincdn Park a:mi: or i.warby property, in accordance with the Federal Housing Progr~n. ~he motion carried and ~rcsid;nt Keono appointed the committee, naming h. Jolmson moved its adoption, which vIas seconded by Er. Lassiter and carried. ~:Tr. Johnson then made a notion ttat the ru10B ".:>e waived, and that the ordinance be passed to its second reading. The motion waG seconded by ~.ir. Imsiter, and wiLen put to a vote, carried. Thereupon the ordinance was read in full. lir. Johnson t~on made a motion that the Ordinace be adopted 'N),-,ich was secon<.1~d by lIre Lassiter, and on roll call, tho vcte was as follows: Ayes; John3on,Keene,Lassiter,Roe, and Robinson- Noes; none. So the Ordinance passed, title as statod, and was signed by tho President of the City Council, and by tho City Clerk, and immediately certified to the ~ayor, vnlO signed it on this date. Johnson then off'ored the follo1iving Resolution: "Wl1.C$S, R.u;.'1"_rn:; and. aasociatefi have applied to the City Council for a permit to construct a rocreation building and pier and yatch basin on the shore of l,ako l:lnnohaJ::a and between Lake Wenona and Lake Einr..ehahah w!',ich purmi t has been granted by the City; llnd vVhereas, the constl~ction of the improvements ~entioned in said pe~it are largely of a public nature and of benefit to the citizens and taxpayers of thG cmmmwLity and it'is tho belief of the COt~lcil that all the citizens and taxpayers will be benefitted by the construction of such improvements, therefore BE IT RESOLVED by the City CCllilCil of the City of Clermont that all inspection, and permit fees in tre con& struction and maintenance of' the irnprov:~ments mentioned herein are hereby waived and canceled fOl' thai period of time beginning on this date and ending on December 31, 1942; and that the Tax Assessor of the City of Clermont is hereby directed and instructed not to put the improvemants mentioned herein upon the Assessment roll of the City o~ Clermont prior to December 31, 1942 and nottaxes shall be assessed against the improvements during that period of time, ending on Decomber 31st, 1942." lire Johnson moved that the resolution be passed, which was seconded by r.:r. Roe made a motion that the reco~~endations of tho Laws and Ordinances Committee about changing some of the old Ordinances, which were contained in the report of that committee submitted at the meeting May4,1937, be accepted and the City Attorney directed to draw up new Ordinances as recommended. The motion was seconded by Mr. Johnson, and carried. ~ ~ Mr. Roe rrade a motion that ~r. B.O.Ware be appointed to represent the City Council on the Board of Directors of tho Lake County Chamber of Commers'e. The motion was seconded by r,"r. Laositer, and carried.
