08-03-1937 Regular Meeting f r,aNUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD AT THE CITY HALL, A~GUST 3, 1937, 7:40 P.M. The meetinG was called to onder by President O.H. Keene, other Councilmen present being A. .].I. Joht.lson, Roy Lassiter, Geo Ro~j~pnn and F. B. Roe. Mayor R.C. Brown, Marshall C.E.Sullins, Street Supt. R.F.Anderson ancl Water Supt. Ernest Sanders were also present. Vinunes of the previous meeting were read and approved. ~ ,., Mayor BrOin~ read his report, also a letter from Mr. Costen about the use of equipment of thA Recreation Club at Keh10r Park. l\ir. H.';"/.Bailey had a~kod permission to place a sa:~d bin on the shore of Lake ltinneola at the end. of West Ave. and to punp sand from the lake nGar that point. There was some objection from property owners that taking sand out caused the lake shore to recede, Mr. F. B. Kreider hav~ng said trat his oil tank located near there was being undermined by the action of th.;} lake water caused by sand havin6 been pumped from there several years ago. After some discussion by the council, llr Bailey was asked to discuss the matter with lire Kreider to see if smme arrangement could be reached wheeeby the work could be carried on without dama@9 to anybodys property. There was some discussion of weeds and grass growing in thG pavements, and methods of getting rid of it. Hr. Robinson made a motion, seconded by P!.r. Johnson, which carried, that the Street Suprintendent get a gallon of weed killer to see if it would do t"e work satisfactortly. Mr. Johnson made a motion, seconded by r.!r. Lassiter that the Street Supt., Water Supt. and Chief of Police double up on t~eir work' so that each could have a two weeks vacation, and that r.~rs. '~.'hi tescarver be employed to take care of th~ office of the City Clerk during his vacation. - By motion of Mr, Robinson, seconded by Mr. Roe, which carried, a safety zone for crossing Montrose Street midway between Seventh and ~ighth Streets is to be marked on the pavement, the location to be decided by the Mayor. Mr. Robinson made a motion, seconded by Mr. Lassiter that the matter of recently located bonds supposed to have been cancelled, be turned over to City Attorney Geo. Westbrook for whatever action can be taken against the former City Glerk, Carl Kindred. The motion carried. P,!!r. Roe made a motion, which was seconded by Mr. Johnson, and carried, that telegrams be sent Senators Barkley, Ashurst, Andrews and Pepper, urging passage of the Wilcox Municipal Bankruptcy Act at this session of Coni~ress . Reports of the Karshall, Street Superintendent, and Water Superintendent were read. ~ ,., By motion of l\;.r. Johnson, secomded by rqr.
