MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD
AT THE CITY HALL, TUESDAY, MARCH 2, 1937, 7:30 P.M.
The meetin~ was calledt 0 order by President O.H.
Keene, other Gbuncilmen present bein& Geo Robinson and
F. B. Roe. Mayor'B.C'. Brown and Marshall C. E. Sullins
were also present.
Minutes of the previous meetin~ were ~ead and approved.
Reports of the Mayor, Marshall and Fire Chief were
read and filed.

Mr. Roe ma~e a motion, seconded by Mr. Robinson, that
a char~e of $25.00 plus expenses"be ma~e for all fire calls
answered outside the City Limits. The motion carried.
The Clerk was instructed to issue a license -far the
Fisher Shows on receipt~ of a license fee of $20.00 for
one day only.
By motion of Roe seconded by RObinson, which carried,
the followin~ bills were approved and ordered pai41 when
funds are available:

A letter from the Clermont-Minneola Garden Club and
the Parent-Teachers Association, asking the CmUlcil to have
a bird sanctuary established in Clermont, was rea~; and by
motion of Robinson, seconded by Roe, which carried, the
matter was referred to City attorney for information as to
procedure to establish such sanctuary.
Mayor BrOwn presented the proppsal of the Underpriv~le~d
Children's Committee of the Kiwanis Club that they be
perm.itted to get the "Uncle Ezra Show" to come here, the
Kiwanis Club to furnish the license and share the proceeds
of the show. Mr. Robinson " moved that t~e license fee be
\11alved for this performance. Mr. Roe seconded the motion,
which carried.
The Garden Club asked the Council to approve the
plantina of oak trees in the parkway in the middle oB
East Ave. It was moved by Robinson, seconded by Roe, and
carrie4, that the privile~e be, ~ranted.

Mayor Brown asked'the approval of the Council, of
appointing without pay, Mr. J.B.O'Dell as deputy policeman
at the schoollroun~s and immediate vicinity with authori~
to check reckless driving, and keep order on the ~rounds.
By motion of Roe seconded by Robinson, which carried, Mayor
Brown was given authority to take necessary action tmnrelieve
the dangerous condition.
By mc~ion of Roe, seconded by Robinson, which carried,
the City Clerk shall get proper applicationj blanks for
homestead exemption of City taxee for the use of those
entitled to the exemption.

It was moved by Robin~on, seconded by Roe, and carried,
that the City Clerk ~ order a new badge for the Marshall.
By motion o! Robinson, seconded by Roe, Ernest Sanders
may atten~ the short course given this week by the Bxtension
Division of the Uhiversity of Florida at Camp Roosevelt,
which is of 3pecia1 interest to men in charge of waterworks
and p1umbinc. The motion carried.

By motion ef Roe, seconded by Robinson, which c~rT'i.ed,
~Le City Clerk is to notify the property owners on the south
s&de of Montrose Street between Lake Ave and Fifth Street
where the' sidewalk is in need of repairs.
Mr. Roe then introduced the following Ordinance:
AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE PAFJITNG OF HOUSE CARS OR
TRAILER CARSWITHIN TH~ CITI LIMITS OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT
MiD REQUIRING SUCH HOUS-E CARS OR TRAILER CARS TO HAVE
PROPER SANITARY AND TOILET FACILITIES IN ACCORD&~CE WITH
THE ORDERS OF THE CITY HEALTH OFFICER, which was read in
full and numbered Ordinance Number 28.
Mr. Roe made a motion, seconded by Mr. Robinson,that
the Ordinance No. 28 be adopted. The motion carried. Mr.
Roe then made a motion that the rules be waived~ and that the
Ordinance be passed to its second readin~. Mr. Robinson
seconded th6 motion, which carried, Thereupon, the Ordinance
was tiead~&B full.
Mr. Roe then moved that ~ Ordinance No. 28 be passed.
The motion was seconded by Mr RObinson, and upon roll call
theevote was a,s roJ.lm"iTs:
Ayes: Robinson, Roe, Keene
Noes: none
So the Ordinance passed, title as stated, and was signed by
the President of the City council and the City Clerk, and
in:::media te1y certif'ied to t:'1,e Mayor. The Ordinace appears
on the Ordinance Book in full.
After some discussion of the p~lems of sttlement of the
City's debt the Council wished to call attention of all
property owners to the meeting to be held at the City Hall
next Tuesday evenin~,aMarch 9th for diseussion of these
problems, All property owners are invited to attend.
There being no further
