02-02-1937 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL, HELD AT THE CITY HALL, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2,1937, 7:30 P.M. The meeting was calle~ to order at 7:30 P.M. by Pr6sident O.H.Keene, other Councilmen present being A.M. Johnson, Roy Lassiter, F.B.Roe and Geo Robinson. Mayor Brown~ Marshall Sullins, and Attorney Westbrook were also present. Minutes of the January meetings read and approved. ~ ~ Mr. Westbrook then presented a plan for r~-funding City Bonds, explaining the probable requirements and how much it would cost taxpayers in taxes on each thousand dollars of assessed value. Mr. Roe made a motion, seconded by Mr. RObinson, that the Co*ocil accept the proposition for consideration, and meet with the followin~ Committee of'Citizens for discussion of the plan at an early date: C'.O.Roe, ChaD R. Short, A. L. Izlar, F. B. Kreider, Lucy M. Woodruff, J. D~ Jones~ S. B. Brantly, R. W. Simms, W. T:'. Heddon, and H. L. Johnson. The motion carried unanmmously. E. Sullins was appointed. City Health Officer. By motion of Robinson seconded by Roe, wh&ch carried, the recommendations of Mayor Brown on sanitation W8Be referred to the Sanitation Committee for action. The City Clerk was instructed to write the Florida Public Service Co. regarding the Street lights not being turned on at the proper time. Mr. Robinson made a motion, seconded by Mr. Johnson, that Mr. Roe get prices on furniture needed in t-",e front room of the City Hall. The motion carried. A letter from the Florida League of Municipalities regarding maintaining headquarters at Tallahassee during the coming session of the Legislature, was read and ordered filed. Mr Johnson made a motion, seconded by Mr. Lassiter that anyone having or wishing to install sprinkling systems using City water in parkways on City property, shall have a meter installed, make $5.00 meter deposit, and pay for water used for this purpose at the rate of IO~ per thousand gallons; the City to reimburse those already having such systems if " such persons want the systems removed; also, all spigots in parkways connected with City mains whithout meters to be supplied with lock spiggots, with the keys placed in the custody of the.Water Superintendant. on roll call the vote was as follows: Ayes- Johnson, Lassiter, Keene; Noes- Roe, RObinson, motion carried. By motion of Lassiter, seconded by JOhnson, whiBh carried, all City employes must pay for water consumed at the same rate as other users. By motion of Robinson, seconded by Roe, which carried, the City will" continue marking street names on the curb at intersections, llntil ~~ all the principal street~ used are marked. By motion of Roe, seconded by Lassiter, all churches and the 'Women's Club are to pay 10~ per'thousand for all water over 5000 ~llons used each month. Motion .carrie~.
