MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ADJOURNED MEETING OF TH E CITY COUNCIL
HELD AT THE CITY HALL,TUESDAY,rommuARY'~1l9$W~: 8:30 P.M.
President Geo Robinson called the meeting to order and
the retiring Mayor, Q.H.Keene ~dministered the oath of office
to Mayor-Elect H .C.BrO\m. Mayor BI'Own then Administered the
oath of office to the newly elected Councilmen, A.M. Johnson,
O.H.Keene, Roy Lassiter, and Geo Robinson. Mayor Brown also
administered the oath to Treasurer, W.E.Stansell.
O. H. Keene was elected President of the Council, and
Geo. Robinson was elected Vice President. The standing
Commi ttees are to be named by the Presj.dent bef'ore the next
regular meeting.
Mayor Brown thell presented his reconmendations as to what
may be done for the betterment of the City.
After Borne discussion of a Zoning on~~nance, Mr.Roe made a
motion, which was seconded by Br.Robinson, that the Zoning
Commision named by the City Council Mar 14,1935 be urged to
act, making recommendations to the Council for a Zoning Ordinance.
The members of' this Commission were R. ~. Simms, A. L. Izlar,
J. E. Westbrook, S. H. Bovman, and Chas R. Short, to which was
added Geo. F. Wesjbrook. The motion carried.
By motion of F. B. Roe, seconded by Geo Robinson, which
carried unanimousiy, R. F. House was appointed City Clerk and
Tax Collector at a sa1ar~'of $125.00 per montho
Applications of J.M.Baker, C.C.Le~, S. J. Mayo, and
Michael Schoenholtz, for the office of Marshall and Inspector
were nead.
l\!r. Robinson made a motion, seconded by Mr. Roe, that
C. E. Sullins be appointed Marshall and Inspector at a salary
of $125.00 per month. On roll call the votes were as follows:
Johnson, Aye; Keene,Aye; Lassiter,Aye; Robinson, Aye; Roe,Aye.
By motion of Lassiter, seconded by Johnson, which carried
unanimously, Ernest Sanders was appointed Street and Water
Suprintendan~ at a salary of $100.00 per month, and to have .
complete charge of all labor on street or water works, hiring
s~ch help as is needed.
By motion of Lassiter, seconded by Robinson, which carried
J.P.Achord was contin~~~ as Fire Chief at a salAry of' $25.00
per month.

By motion of Roe, seconded by Lassiter, which carried, the
Clerk was authorized to get surety bonds for the City Clerk
Treasurer, and Marshall, at the 10Vlest rate from a responsibl.e
Company.
Mr. Lassiter.introduced an ordinance requiring the
install~tion of water meters by all property owners having
separate dwellings or business buildings which are supplied
with water f'rom the Municipal Water Department of the City of
Clermont; or in lieu thereof, requiring such property owners
to pay the minimum charge for water supplied to each such
separate dwelling or business building, and providing penalties
for the violation of this ordinance. After the first reading
Mr. Lassiter moved that the Ordinance be adopted. Mr. Johnson
seconded the motion, and on being put to a vote, the motion
carried. ~r. Lassiter then moved that the rules be waived and
the ordinance placed on It's second reading and passage. The
motion was seconded by ~r. JOhnson, and upon vote being taken,
carried unanimously. Thereupon the ondinance was read in full
and numbered Ordinance No.27, and upom roll call t~e vote was
as follows: Ayes;Johnson,Keene,Lassiter,Robonson,Roe
Noes:none
So the ordinance passed title as stated and was signed by the
President of' the City Council and t~e City Clerk and immediately
certified tomthe Mayor. The Ordinance appears in the Ordinance
Book in full.

A letter from W. R. McDuffie, complaining of the annoyance
caused by several dogs running at large near the Munson
Apartments, was read but no action taken on the matter.
There being no further business, the Council Adjourned, to.
meet at the call of the President. .
