12-01-1936 Regular Meeting MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY"COUNCIL, HELD AT THE CITY HALL, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 1936, 7;30.P.M. Meeting called to order by the President, Geo. Robinson, other Councilmen present being- ~Jm Kern,Roy Lassiter, and ]'. B. Roe. Mayor Keene and Marshall Sullins were also prese1l1t. Councilman R. L. Ogden and Oity Attorney Westbrook oame in some time later. .at. ~ Mr. Lassiter made a motion to fix up th e large room on 1h e second floor of the City Hall euitabl. as a meeting place for the American Legion, Boy Scouts, and other organizations who might want to use it. The motion was seoonded by Mr. Kern, and carried unanimously. After some d,isoussion by Mr. W.D.Laws, representing the Amerioan Legion; Mr. Maurioe Knight, representing the Boy Soouts; and members of the Council; Mr Lassiter made a motmon, which was seconded by Mr. Kern, that Mr F. B. Roe with the assistanoe of the City Clerk prooeed to have the neoessary repairs made in the City Hall, including painting the large room upstairs, the Chamber of Commeree room and the City Clerk's office; also getting ;~,/ shades for the windows and furniture needed. The motion carried unanimously. ~ ~ Mr. W. T. Williams, representing C. Cecil Bryant, C.P.A., presented a report of the Audit of the City Bmoks covering the period of November 1, 1935 to Ootober 31, 1936. Mr. Roe made a mot.on that the Report be received, and Mr. Williams be thanked for making so thorough and complete report. The motion was seconded by ~tt. Lassiter, andcarried . After some discussion9fBond No. 38 of Capital Refunding' Series A., dated Jan 1, 1929,wntchrnaseiee~helddin the City's lock box at the Bank, Mr Roe made a motion that the Ausitor be instructed to cancel this Bond, and the Oity Olerk make proper record of same, for future reference. The motion was seoonded by Mr. Lassiter and carried unanimously. Mayor Keene reported for the month of November, six trials and fines amounting to $35.00 colleoted. Considerable amount of olean-up work done on streets and around lake by City Hall. Arrangement have been made to have holes in pavements fixed by the County road crew. Marshall Sullins reported six arrests and $35.00 in fines co lected and turned over to the City Clerk. Fire Chief Aohord reports one fire call Nov. 17 with six firemen answering, and Fire Engine checked and found O.K. on Nov. ~, 8, 15, 22, and 29th. Roe, Wbo had heen appointed on a Committee with Cit y Attorney,. Geo Westbrook, to represent Clermont in the League. Mr. Lassiter made a motion that the Mayor and the City Cleyk be authorized to execute a contract with A. G. Wright of Atlanta, Ga., to collect delinquent lioense taxes from Insurance Companies or Corporations doing business in the City of Clermont during thepast five years. A letter from the Cleimont Chamber of Commerce with a check in the amount of $50.00 iDrlusedtowardrthe,e~pense mmefurntmhings of the new Community Building in Kehlor Park, was read, and the City Clerkwas instructed to issue receipt and express the thanks of the City Officials for the donation. Robin'son For Councilman one year O.H.Keene By motion of Mr. Roe, seconded by Mr. Lassiter, which oarried, Mayor Keene was authorized to have holes in City Streets fixed by Mr. Fraser.
