10-06-1936 Regular Meeting
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CJ;TY COUNCIL, HELD
'AT THE CITY HALL, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1936, 7:50 P.M.
The meeting was called to order by President Geo.
Robinson, other Councilmen present being Wm.Kern, Roy
Lassiter, and R. L. Ogden. Mayor Keene and Marshall
Sullins were also present.

Several people were present, and Pres. Robinson asked
anyone who had any ma tter to bring up before the Council
to present it at tha* time.
Mr. Schrodel, representing the social club of the
Postal Colony Co., aske d about the funishing of the Community
Building in Kehlor Park, and Ii> out getting the use of the
building at certain times each month. The matter was
referred to the chairman of the Park Committee, Mr. Roe.
Mr. Hazeltine and Mr. Simms asked for a 2" water line
from the corner of Lake Ave and Minneola Ave to a point in
fromt of Mr. Simms house in order that enough water might
be furnished for a sprinkling system in the wide parkway
between the sidewalk and curb in front of their properties.
The matter was referred to the Water Committee~ by motion of
Ogden, seconded by Kern, which carried.
Mr. Jas. Leake presented a letter fromMr. Bertemm
Ibbetson,Chartered Accountant, submitting a bid for
auditing the City books for the fiscal year ending Oct. 31.
Mr. Ogden uade a motion that the .letter of Mr.
Ibbetson be receive~ and filed, which was seconded by
Lassiter, and upon being put to a vote, carried..
Mr. Williams, representing C. Cecil Bryant, Certified
Public Accountant, of Ocala, suggested t~ in view of the
financial condition of the City, and the few sources of
revenue, It would not seem essential to set up a morel
elaborate system of books at this time.
Mr. Ogden then made a motion, seconded byMr. Lassiter,
that Mr. Williams be employed to make an audit of the books,for
fiscal year ending October 31, 1936. Motion carried.
Mayor Keene reported for the month of September, six
arrests. Fanr posted bonds amounting to $20.00 and costs
which was forfeited to the City. One was released upon
his promise to le ave town and not return. One arrested
for vagrancy was released upon his promise to work out his
fatherls water bill, which he did. Ernest Sanders was put
on special Police duty to assist Marshall Sullins on Saturday
nights, at a cost to the City of $2.50 per night.
Marshall Sullins reported six arrests, $20.00 in "Bonds
collected and turned over to the City Clerk.
Fire Chief Achord reported the Fire engine checked
on Sept. 6, 13, 20, and 27, and found O.K.
By Motion of Ogden, seconded by Lass,iter, Which carried,

Work on water lines and streets by water users, credited to
their water accounts $89.95.
Mr Lassiter made a motion that a contract with A. G. 1
Wright to collect delinquent ldhense taxes from Insurance
Companies who have pperated in Clermont, be signed by the
Mayor and Oity Clerk on approval of City Attorney Westbrook.
Mr. Kern seconded the motion, which carried.
By motion of Ogden, seconded by Lassiter, which carried~
the 2" water line is to be extended along Desoto St. from
in front of Frank Forth's place to the west side of 10th. St.
There be ing no further business, the Council adjourned
to meet at the call of the President.
