Minutes regular ad~ourned meeting Clermont City
Council held at the City Hall April 24, 1930
Meeting called to order at Eight O'Clock P.M. By
President Tabor .
Councilmen present Simms, French and Perry, Mayor Ware and
Attorney Westbrook
After some discussion regarding the necessity of cit~zens
of Clermont co-operating in fruit fly eradication
h~. Simms introduced the following resolution:

A RESOLVfION REQUESTING TBE CO-OPERATION
OF CITIZENS WITH FRUIT FLY ERADICATION
AUTHORrrIES.
\7HEREAS, It has been made to appear to the City
Council of the City of Clermont, that there is a considerable
quantity of citrus fruit remaining on trees located at
various places within the City, and the Federal and state
authorities in charge of the eradication of the Mediterranean
Fruit Flybaye issued instructions that all such citrus
fruit and other host fruits be promptly removed fram the
trees, and
~VBEREAS, It is to the in"terest of all of the
ci tizens of Clermont that they strictly comply wi th the
rule s and regulati OIlS of the Federal and State Authorities
in charge of the eradication work in view of the penalties
which may be imposed upon any community which does not
comply with such requirements, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY

City to comply with the rules and regulations of the Federal
and State Authorities in charge of the eradication of the
~editerranean Fruit Fly, and that all citizens and property
ovmers are requested to have removed immediately all
remaining citrus fruit and other host fruits from all
trees upon their respective properties; and we are further
advised that the Clermont Citrus Grmwers Association will
provide cold storage facilities for the keeping of citrus
fruit for the Citizens of Clermont.
BE IT FUR~mR RESOLVED, That the City Marshal
be instructed to make a survey of the property in the
City and to notify.all property owners where any citrus
fruit, or other host fruits are found to be remaining upon

the trees that all such citrus fruit or other fruit

should be removed not later than April 30, 1930; and
that the said Marshal be instructed to eXEmine all property
on May 1st 1930 and take the name of any person who has
refused to comply with the regulations of the State and
Federal Authorities and that such name and description
of the property be turned over to the proper Fed~ral
officials jor such action as they may deem necessary.
BE IT FURTJIER RESOLVED, That this resolution
be printed and a copy be delivered to each property
owner where it is found that citrus or other hosID
fruits are remaining on the trees.
After discussion, the Resolution was put to a
vote and carried unanimously.
It was meved, secBnded and carried that the Motorcycle
belonging to the Police epartment be disposed of for cash
at a price not less than $50.00
