MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEE'llING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
HELD ON THURSDAY, JA1.UARY 23, 1930.
The City Council met at the City Hall, Clermont, Florida, at
8:00 o'clock P.M., Thursday, January 23, 1930, pursuant to
call of the President.
Upon roll call the following were found to be present :
President, C. E. Tabor, and Councilmen~S. P. French, S. C.
Perry, P. Short and R. W. Sims ; also City Clerk, Carl Kindred,
and City Attorney, Geo. F. Westbrook.
President Tabor stated the purpose of the meeting was to
take some action in reference to the surety. bonds of the City
Treasurer, City Clerk and Tax Collector, and City Marshall, and
to act upon the matter of ratifying a contract previously ex-
ecuted by the City with the Tavares & Gulf Railroad Company
concerning a water main on their right of way, or parallelling
the same.
Mr. Short introduced the following resolution :
"WHEREAS, the City of Clermont, on October 1, 1929, entered
into a certain agreement with the Tavares & Gulf Railroad CO~
pany, concerning the placing of a water pipe line on the prop-
erty of the Railroad Company from 8th street Westerly, a copy
of which contract or agreement is now on file in the office of
the City Clerk ; and which said contract was executed on behalf
of the City by W. M. Davenport, its then Mayor, and Carl Kindred,
its City Clerk, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Clermont
that the execution of this contract be and is hereby ratified
and approved, and the same shall be the contract of the City of
Clermont. II
And upon roll call the resolution was adopted by the unan-
imous vote of the members of the Council.

Mr. Short offered the following resolution:
"WHEREAS, It is proper that the Council designate
the Bank or Banks in whi ch the funds of the City shall be
kept on deposit and under what conditions the same shall
be accepted, therefore
BE IT HESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CLERMONT, FLORIDA, ThaS the Treasurer of the City of
Clermont be and he is hereby instructed to deposit all
funds of the City of Clermont in the First State Bank of
Clermont and the First National Bank of Clermont, keeping
~he funds divided as nearly as is practical so that
approximately or-e-half shall be deposited in each bank, and
each of the above mentioned banks are hereby designated as the
official depositories of the City of Clermont.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That in the event the
City mf Clermont shall have on deposit with either of the
above banks in excess of $3,000.00, then that the City
Treasurer shall requi.re security from such Banks in such
amount as .dll protect the deposits of the City of Clermont;
such security to be in the form of bonds of the United States
or Treasury Notes, which shall be held by the Treasurer.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That in the event of a
loss of any funds belonging to the City of Clermont because
of the failure or suspension of bu.siness of either of the
above mentioned banks, that the City Treasurer be and he
is hereby relieved from any liability upon his Bond as
such City Treasurer because of such loss so occasioned.
~E IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the records of
B. B. Roe, City Treasurer, Carl Kindred, City Clerk and
Tax COllector, and C. C. Lee, City Marshal, prior to the
4th day of January, 1930, be al:d they are hereby approved
and accepted as satisfactory by the City."
\Vhich recolution was put to ~ vote and upon vote
being taken, was unanimously adopted.
