HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-23-1929 Regular Meeting Minutes of the Adjourned meeting of the City Council, held on Tuesday, July 23, 1929. ~ W' The Council met at the City Hall at 8:00 P. M. pursuant to adjournment from the regular session July 2. Those present were Councilmen G.E. Maves, C. E. Tabor, s.p.French; Mayor W. M. Davenport, City Clerk, Carl Kindred and City Attorney, Geo. F. Westbrook, also present. Mr. P. Short, who had been elected to fill the unexpired term of Councilman H. E. Mills, resigned, was present, and the oath of office was administered to him by Mayor W. M. Davenport, and he took his seat on the Council. President Maves stated that one of the objects of the meeting was to consider any bids for the purcha~e of $81,000000 Refunding Bonds of the City of Cler.mont. Clerk Kindred announcid tha t no bids for the purchase of any of the said bonds had been received. Thereupon President Maves announced that the Council would consider any private~'oposa1 for the purchase of the said bonds. No offer for the purchase of any of the bonds was made to the Council. Councilman ~ ..,. French then offered the following Resolution: Itv7HEREAS, the City Council of the City of Clermont did on the 25th day of June 1929, authorize the issuance and sale and/or exchange for existing bonds, $81,000.00 Refunding Bonds of the City of Clermont, dated July 1, 1929, and It 1.'l!HEREAS, the said bonds have been duly advertised fo r sale pursuant to the resolution of June 25, 1929 and no bid3 for the purchase of any of the said bonds have been received, therefore ~ ~ It Be it Resolved that the Mayor and City Clerk of the City of Clermont be and they are hereby authorized to proceed to exchange any or all of said $81,000.00 Refunding Bonds, Dated July I, 1929, for any bonds of the City 'of Clermont which are now in default or which mature prior to January I, 1930; such exchange to be on the basis provided for in the Resolution of June 25, 1929. " Which resolution, upon being put to a vote, was unanimously adopted, the vote being as followSl. Ayes, Maves, Frenc.h and Short. Nays, None.
