Council held at the Vi ty Hall August 28, 1928.
Meeting ,called to order ar Eight O'Clock by President
Maves.

Councilmen present, Mills, Simms, Tabor and TIestbrook,
and Attorney crestbrook. l~yor McKinney being absent.
The president announced that we would first take up the
sub3eot of adjusting complaints ~hich wera filed
regarding the 1928 assessment roll. lIr. T.C. Cork on
behalf of lira.E.M. Collester made a protest against
the ass 05 sment placed on Lot 8, Block, 80, t7hich was
asses3ed at $10,000.00. After some discussion it was
regularly moved, seconded and carried that the
asse~Gment rematn at $10,000.00 . Mr. T.C. Cork on
behalf o~ Wm. Chardavoyne entered a protest against
the assessment of Blocks 113 and 122 which are assessed
at $7,500.00 each. After some discussion it was,
regularly moved, seconded and carried that the assessmen
on lots 113 and 122 remain at $7,.500.00 each. Mrs.
Slella Watson entered a protest against the assessment
on S. 90' lots 2 and 4 Block 78 which were assessed at
$4,000.00. After some discussion it was regularly moved,
seconded and carried that the assessment on S. 90'
Lots 2 and 4 Block 78 remain at $4~000.00. Mr. R.C.
Hooks then entered a protest on Lots 15,16 & 17 Block
91 which was assessed at $11,000.00. After some dis-
aussion it was regUlarly moved, seconded and carried
that the assessment of Lots 15,16 & 17 be reduced to
$10,000.00. Mr. Sam Siler then entered a protest on
lots 8 & 10 Block 79 which were assessed at &5,500000.
After some discussion it was regularly moved, seconded
and carried that the assessment on Lots 8 and 10 B~ock
79 be reduced to $5,000.00. Mr. Paul Jernigan then
entered a protest against the assessment placed against
the stock and fixtures in his place of business, which
was assessed at tsQ&TQe %;I $1,000.00. After some
discussion it was regularly moved, seconded and carried
that tn_ aosessment on said stock and fixtures be
reduced to 1500.00.
After some discussion regarding cleaning up of the .
streets and various city parks it was moved, seconded
and carried that Mr. K.P. Douglas be put on for 30 days
at a salary of $125.00 per month, to work with the
chairmen of the park and street committees in getting
this \"lork done.
