The City Council of the City of Clermont met in regular At the usual meeting place of the Council on December 17th, 1924, at ten o'clock A.M. Present: Messrs. H. L. House, H. C. Brown, Wm, Bess, AnldiL Aasheim,^Isam Blackburn, being all of the members of said Council; W. N.McEinney, Mayor; B. W.Wait, City Attorney; and Edythe M. Litzrodt, Clerk. The meeting was presided over by Mr. House, President of i the City Council. On motion du]y made and ee ended, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: R E S O L U T I O N. RESOLVED, That A. P.Gibson, City Engineer, prepare or ®use to be prepared plans and specifications for grading, constructing and .� ._ pig Montrose Street from its intersection with West Avenue to its intersection with Twelfth Street, twenty-four feet in width; Broome Street from its intersection with Seventh Street to its intersection with Lake Avenue, twenty-four feet in. width; Juniata Street from its intersection with Seventh Street to its intersection with Lake Avenue, twenty-four feet in width; Lake Avenue from its intersection with the Lake Shore Drive along the edge of Lake Wenonah to its intersection with DeSoto Street, twenty-four feet in width; boulevarded from its intersection with DeSoto Street to its intersection with Osceola Street, with a parkway fn the center, and two strips of pavement each eighteen feet in width; and paved from its intersection with Osceola Street to its intersection with the Lake'Shore Drive along the edge of Lake Minneola, twenty- four feet in width; Fourth Street from its intersection with Minneola Alrenue to its intersection with Osceola Street, twenty-four feet in width, and from its intersection with Osceola Street to its intersection with the Lake Shore Drive along the edge of :Lake Minneola, eighteen feet in width; r Caltoll Street from a point two hundred feet eaft of Fifth Street to its intersection with Third Street, in width; eighteen feet Osceola Street from its intersection with Seventh Street to its intersection with Sighth ?Street, eighteen feet in width; DeSoto Street from its intersection with Seventh Street to its intersection with Fifth Street, twenty-four feet in width; Chestnut Street from its intersection with Seventh Street to its intersection with Sixth Street, twenty-four feet in width; Highland Avenue from its intersection with Seventh Street to its intersection with Fifth Street, twenty-four feet in width; East Avenue from its intersection with Osceola Street to its intersection with Pith Street, boulevarded with two strips of .pavement each eighteen feet in width, with a parkway ten feet in width between the two stripsiDfpavement; with lime rmck base and. bituminous wearing surface, together with con- crete curb and gutter on all of the said streets and avenues, except where the City Engineer may determine that a Pecky Cypress curb will: be sufficient, together with estimates of the costef-I'he proposed im- provements, which said plans, specifications and estimated cost sheets shall be placed on file With the City Clerk and shall be open to the inspection of the public. Upofo motion of Mr. Hlark7purn .: aeoonded by Mi. Brown, it was unanimously decided to suspend the rules and pass the said or— dinance to its second reading. Thereupon, the said ordinance was read in full for the second time. Upon motion duly made and seconded, the said ordinance, of which the foll6wing is a copy, was duly passed and adopted as read, by.the unanimous vote of the Council: ORDINANCE NO. An Ordinance Authorizin;; the reduction of the width of Highland Avenue from Eighty Feet to Sixty Feet. 1hereas, Highland Avenue, as designated on the map of the townsite of Clermont, recorded in the public records of Lake County Florida, in Plat Book 3, page 5, is shocm on said plat as having a width of eighty Beet, and has actually been laid out ei;;hty feet wide, but is a street -hick is used for residential purposes only, and is not subject to heavy traffic: and ldhereas, Blocks 7,18,27,45,6&,73,84,99,110,125 and 137, which lie immediately notth of said Highland Avenue are shown on said map to have a depth of three Hundred feet, and actually have a depth of three hundred feet, as laid out: and -R FAS, Blocks 8017,28,44,61,72,85,89,100 .100,126 and 136,lyin? immediately south of said Highland Ave., are show, on said map as havin3 a depth of two hundred fifth feet therefrom, but actually, as laid out'on'the ;round, measure considerably less than that number of feet: and Whereas, a sixty feet street is deemed sufficiently wide to care for the volume of traffic which the said Highland Avenue may reasonably be expected ever to bear: Now.THERLF'OREJ BE IT ENACTED BY T?i' CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLERMONT : SECTION 1. That the width of the said Hi?hland Avenue be reduced from eighty feet to sixty feet, by movin; the south line thereof north- wardly a distance of t..ienty feet, and that the said twenty feet strip shall enure to the benefit of the presentovners of -the property along the southern edge of said Highland Avenuo., Section 11. That A.P. Gibson, City En_;ineer, be and he is hereby directed to locate AM establish the southern line of Hicrhland Avenue in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance. Section III That Hirhland Avenue shall forthwith be opened from the western edge of Blocks 136 and 137 on the west, to the corporate limits of the C ty of Clermont on the east, as shown on said map, except as otherwise herein provided for. 1924. Upon motion of Mr. Bess, seconded by Mn H. C. Brown, it was unanimously decided to suspend the rules and pass the said or— dinance to its second reading. Thereupon, the said ordinance was read in full for the second time. Upon motion duly made and seconded, the said ordinance, of which the following is a copy, was duly passed and adopted as read, by the unanimous vote of the Council: ORDINANCE i:0. Section III. Taht Lake Avenue shall forthwith be opened from the Lake s Shore Drive alon.:; the ed3e of Lake Minneola to the Lake Shore Drive alone; the edge of Lake Idenonah, one hundred feet wide as sho•:m on said reap. Section IV. That Fourth Street shall forth,vith be opened from Osceola Street to the Lake Jhore Drive alone- the ed ;e of Lake IaUnneola sixty feet wide, as shown on said map. Section V. That the locati)n of Carroll Streot between Fourth Street 4- and 'gird Slrcet be chon;ed by making its course conform to the shore of Sprakling eaters Lake and the contour of the hill according to a plat of said street by A.P. Jibson, city Engineer, dated Dec 15th 1924, and that siad flat be, and. the same is hereby adopted as an amend ent to tie amp of the townsite of Clermont, filed and recorded in plat book 3, page 5. That Carroll Street shall forthwith be opened from a point twohundred feet east of Fifth 6'reet to TAhird Street, sixty feet wide, as shown on said plat made by A.P. Gibson, City En ineer.
