Minutes of Regular Adjourned Meeting of the City
Council of the City of Clermont, December 23rd, 1924,
at ten o'clock A. M.
Pultsuant to adjourmmnt, the City Council of the City of
Clermont met in regular adjourned meeting at the office of the City
s
Clerk, that being the usual meeting place of the Council, on Tuesday,
the 23rd day of December, 1924, at ten o'clock A.M. Present:
Messrs. H. L. House, H. C. Brown,. Wm. Bess, Ioam Blackburn and And
Aasheim, being all of the members of said Council; B. W. Wait, City
Attorney, Edythe M. Litzrodt, City Clerk, and W. N. McKinney, Mayor.
The meeting was preaided over by Mr. House, President of the
:# Cotmcil.

presented and read to the Council a letter
from Messrs. Cox, Jernigan & Company, dated December 18th, 1924, of
which the following is a copy:

Clermont, Florida.
Gentlemen:
We understand that the City of Clermont is about to under-
take ceftain additional paving, and we hereby offer to do all of said
work at and for the unit prices of:

as set forth in our contract with the City of Clermont, dated the loth
day of October, 1924, and to do and perform the said work in full con-
formity with all the terms and conditions of said contract, and in full
accordance and compliance with the plans and specifications to be pre-
pared by the City Engineer, and to carry the cost of doing this addition-
al paving until the City sh&ll receive the proceeds from the sale of the

bonds which ame to be issued to pay for the same.

Thereupon, mpon motion duly madd and seconded, the fol-
lowing resolmtion was unanimously adopted:
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Clermont deeds it
advisable to make improvements upon certain streets and avenues with-
in the City of Clemont, to -wit:
Montrose Street from its. intersection with West Avenu6 to
its intersection with Twelfth Street, twenty-four feet
in width;
Broome Street from its intersection with Seventh Street
to its intersection with Lake Avenue, twenty-fc-r feet in
width;
Juniata Street from its intersection with Seventh -Street
to its intersection with Lake Avenue, twenty-four feet in
width;
Lake Avenue from its.intersection with the Lake Shore
Drive Uong the edge of Lake Wehonah to its intersection
with DeSoto Street, twenty-four feet in width; boulevarded
from its intersection with Desoto Street to its inter-
section with Osceola Street, with a parkway in the center,
and two strips of pavement each eighteen feet in width;
and paved from its intersection with Osceola Street to
its intersection with the Lake Shore Drive along the
edge of Lake Minneola, twenty-four feet in width;
Fourth Street from its intersection with Minneola "venue
to its intersection with Osceola Street, twenty-four feet
in width, and from its intersection with Osceola Street to
its intersection with the Lake Shore Drive along the edge
of Lake Minneola, eighteen feet in width;
Carroll Street from a point two hundred Beet east of Fifth
Street to its intersection with Third. Street, eighteen
feet in width;
Osceola Street fzm its intersection with Seventh Street
to its intersection with.Eight%r Street, eighteen feet in
width;
Desoto Street from its intersection with Seventh Street
to its intersection with Fifth Street,iwenty-four feet in
width;
Chestnut Street from its intersection with Sevent# Street
to its intersection with Sixth Street, tfventy--four feet in
width;
Highland Avenue from its intersection with Seventh Street
to its intersection with_ Fifth Street, twenty-four feet
in width;
East Avenue fam its intersection with Osceola Street to
its intersection with Pitt Street, boulevarded with two
strips of pavement each eighteen feet in width, with a
parkway ten feet in width between the two strips of pave-
ment;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it advisable that said
improvements should be made with as little delay as possible, and
Messrs. Cox, Jernigan & Company have -indicated their willingness to
finance the cost of making such improvements until the proceeds from
the sale of the bonds to be issued therefore can be received; and,

WHEREAS, the said Council, by resolution passed and adopted
and received and approved by the Mayor on the 17th day of December,
1924, has directed the City Engineer to prepare plans and specifications
for said improvements; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is advised that the price of
crushed lime rock has recently advanced 100 per cubic yard, but that
Messze. Coxg Jernigan & Company areable to secure sufficient rock for
the purpose of making said improvement at the former price, by reason
of contracts which they hold with the mines from which said rock is
taken; and,
WHEREAS, the said City Council is advised and believes that
the said improvements can be secured more cheaply and economically
through the acceptance of the aforesaid offer of Messrs. Cox, Jernigan
abd Oomptny than 1yy; advertising for bids for the making of said im-
provements:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the said offer of Messrs.
Cox, Jernigan and Company be accepted, and that they be, and hereby
are authorized Aai empowered to do said work.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, That the President of the City Council
immediately notify Messrs. Cox, Jernigan & Company that their offer
has been accepted.
RESOLVED, FURTHER, That their letter, above referred to, and
the said letter of acceptance from the President of the Council to
r. them shall constitute an amendment to, and be and become a part of
066 the said contract between the City of Clermont and Cox, Jernigan and
00nlany, dated the loth day of October, 1924.
On motion duly made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned
to meet again upon the call of the President.

Thereupon, Mr. B. W. Wait, City Attorney, stated to the
Council that Messrs. Wright, Wallow & Comfy, the puochasers of the
$40,000.00 of improvement bonds proposed to be issued by the City
of Clermmnt, requested thstthe sailbonds be dried October lst, 1924,
instead of July let, 1924.
Thempon, on motion duly made and seconded, and unalimous].y
adopted, it was resolved thettaat the said bonds should be dated October
1st, 1924, instead of July 1st, 1924.
Thereupon, on motion duly made and secondedpthe following
resolution was unanimously adopted:
