HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-15-1924 Regular Meeting•Minutes of Regular Adjourned Meeting of the City Council of the i. City of Clermont, held August 15th, 1924, at two o'clock P. M. Pursuant to the call of the President of the Council, the City Council of the City. of Clermont met at an adjourned regular meeting F.' at the office of the City Clerk, that being the usual meeting place of the Council, at 2:00 o'clock P. it. on August 15th, 1924. Present, Councilmen H. L. House, President; D. J. Westbrook, wm. Bess and H. C. Broom. Absent, J. D. Jones. Upon motion duly made and seconded, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: R E S O L U T I O N. WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Clermont deems it for the best interests of the citizens of Clermont that a change be made in the form _ of the municipal government, by amending the present charter of said City in numerous particulars, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That an election be held on Tuesday, the 14th day of October, 1924, the same being not less than forty (40) days nor more than ninety (90) days after the date of the adoption of this resolution, for the purpose of electing a Charter Board by the qualified. electors of the City of Clermont, to consist of five (5) members. RESOLVED, FURTHER, That the Clerk of the City of Clermont be, and she is hereby directed to publish a notice of such election in the Clermont press, a weekly newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Clermont, once each week for four (4) consecutive weeks next preceding said election, the first publication thereof to be not less than twenty-five (25) days prior to such election, and to post three (3) copies of said notice of election at least twenty-five (25) days before said election in the said City of Clermont, one in the office of the Clerk of the City of Clermont, that being the usual meeting place of the Council, and the other copies in two other conspicuous places in the City of Clermont. RESOLVED, FURTHER,.That C. L. Kindred, Geo. Winston, and R. C. Hooks, be,and they are hereby appointed as inspectors, and S.S. Fesler as clerk of said election. RESOLVED, FURTHER, That the City Clerk be, and she is hereby author- ized to provide a sufficient number of b�:llots to be used in said election. RESOLVED, FURTHER, That the City Clerk be, and she is hereby instructed _ to keep the registration books of said City open from the 5th day of Sept., 1924, until and including the 9th day of October, 1924, for the purpose of registering any person who may be entitled to vote in this election.
