09-09-1924 Regular MeetingThereupon, upon motion duly made and seconded, the following resolution
was unanimously adopted:

=_ WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Clermont, 3n the 9hh
day of September, 1924, adopted a resolutian providing for cnnstru.cting,
grading, paving and otherwise improving certain streets and avenues
within the corporate limits of saLd city, which said improvements are
to be made pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 9298, Laws of Florida,
Acts of 1923: and
WHEREAS? The said City Council on thc; same day ado,)te i a f a--l-rj
resolution directing that notice be given to all persons interested in.)r
owning property adjoining and contiguous to or bounding and abutting ppon
the streets and a venues mentioned and describecx in the r esolutin of
September 9th, 1924, above referred to, to be and appear before the City
Council on the 16th day of September, 1924, at 1:30 o'clock P. M. then
and there to makd objections, if any they had, to the making of said
proposed improvements; and
WHEREAS, said notice was du*y published iri the Clermont Press,
a newspaper of general circulatinn published in the City of Clermont,
Florida, in its Issue of September ll�h, 1924; and
WHEREAS, certain objteetions were made by a majority in interest
of the persons owning or interested in the property adjoining and con-
tiguous to or bounding and abutting upon DeSoto Street bet%yeen Fifth
Street andSeventh Street: Chestnut Strebtbetwe.?n Sixth Street and Seventh
Street; Eighth Street between Montrose Street and DeSoto Street; and
Osceola Street between Seventh Street and Eighth Street; and Fourth
Street between Minnebla Avenue and Osceola " reet; and
WHEREAS? it has been made to appear to the 6ouneil that it is
inadvisa-le and unnecessary to make said improvements on the following
streets and blocks at the present time, to-wlt: DeSoto Street from
Fifth Street; to Seventh Street, Chestnut Street from Sixth Street to

Eighth Street from Montrose Street to DeSoto Stret; and Osceola Street

NOW? THEREFORE? BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of the City
M of Clermont, that the said resolution providing for the constructing,
grading, paving and otherwise ii9roving certain streets and avenues within

the corporate limits of the City of Clerm ent, passed and adopted on the
9th day of September, 1924, be, and the same is hereby amended by omit-
ting from: the streets and avenues therein mentirned and described the
following:
Eighth Street from Montrose Street to DeSoto Street;
Fourth Street from Minneola ",Avenue to Osceola Street;
Chestnut Street fr.)m Sixth Street to Seventh Street;
DeSeto Street from Fifth Street to Seventh Street;
Osceola Street frmm Seventh Street to Eighth Street;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED? That t he resolutim providing for con!
strutting, a rading,paving, and otherwise improving certain street
and avenues within the corporate limits of the City of Clermont;
authorizing special assessments for the entire cost thereof' against the
lute and lands adjoining,_j• and contiguous to or bounding and abutting
upon such improvements, providing the manner in whi-6h slid special
assessments shall be made, and when the same shall be payable by
the owners of such lets and lands, passed and a doptel by the City Coun-
cil and rec:ived and approved by the Mayor on the 9th day of September
1924, be and the same is hereby amended by sutstituting the sum of
Fifty Seven T4ousand Four Hundred Twelve and 64/100 Dollars ($57,412.64)
as the total expenditure authorized to. cover the cost of constructing,
grading, paving and otherwise improving tht streets and avenues described
in said resolutio n, as amended by resolution passed and sdo,:ted and re-
ceived and approved by the Mayor on the 16th day of September, 1924,
in lieu of the sum of Seventy-two Thjusand Nine Hundred Seventy-seven
and 68/100 Dollars ($72.977.68), authorized in said resolution of
September 9th, 1924.
Thereupon, upon motion duly made and seconded, the following
resolution was unanimously adopted:
WHEREAS, the CityCeuncil of the City of Clermont on the
9th day of September, 1924, adopted a resolution providing for con-
structing, grading, paving and otherwise improving certain streets and
avenues vdthin the corporate limits of the City of Clermont, whi:h said
resolution was duly amended on the 16th day of September, 1924; and
WHEREAS, the Council deems it expedient at this time to
advertise for bids for the prosecutimcf the necessary work and the
furnishing of the proper mat.:rials in,connection with the improvements
contemplated in said amended resolution:
NOW? THETiEFORE? BE IT RESOLVED? That the Mayer and City
Clerk of said City be, and they are her by authorized and directed
to notify all Contractors engaAcd in work of this nature that the
City Council will on the loth day of October, 1924, at 2:00 o'clock
P. M. rec&ive bids for the prosecution of said work and the furnishing
of said materials.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the CityCouncil hereby reserves
the right to reject any and all such bids.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That notice to this effect be pub-
lished by said officers in the Clermont Press, a weekly newspaper pub-
lishedin the said City on the following dated, to -wit: September l8th,
25th, October 2nd and 9th, respectively.
On motion duly made and seconded, Mr. R. P. Seaver was
appointed as Tax Assessor to fill the vacancy occasioned by the
resignation of Mr. Isam Blackburn as Tax Assessor.
On motion duly made and seconded, the City Marshal was
instructed to ask the merchants along Eighth Street to sweep and
clean out their places of business from the back door instead of
using the front doors for that purpose.
Mr. H. C. Brown reported to the Council that a representative.
from the State Board of Health office had been in Clermont in regard to
sewerage question. On motion duly made and seconded, a special
committee was appointed and empowered to employ an engineer to go over
the sewerage system. The said committee was composed of the following
named councilmen: H. C. Brow;¢,Chairman, Isam Blackburn and Andy Aasheim.
On motion duly made and seconded,. the meeting adjourned to
meed again upon the call of the President.
