Mr. Brown then stated that the item of $8,333,34 shown under the
heading of Liabilities as sinking, fund required in 1924 was the
amount which should have been accumulated up to and includeing
the year 1924. For the retirement the several Bond"Issues hereto -
for authorized and issued by the eity, that no part of this amount had
been so accumulated, oweing to the failure of the City Council dureinr
the past two or three years to levy any taxex for such purpose;
and that such failure was about to seriously impair the credit of
the city. He further stated that the item of $2850.00 sho:=n under
the heading; of liabilities as interest on bonds, required in 1924
was for the interest which would become due and payable dureing the
year 1924 on the previous bind issues, for which no provision had
been made by taxation, and that it was absolutely necessary that
some provision be pade for raising this amount of money so that the
city would not defaulton th a interest of its bonded indebtedness.
He further stated that the item of $1997.17 shown under the headings
of liabilities as " Other. Interest and approximite Gen. Expense
before fubther Revenue", was the approximite difference between the
estimated income and expense of the City for the balance of this year.
It was further stated that it was proposed to refinance this in-
debtedness and deficit by ineludeing the same in the proposed bond
Issue, but that this could not be legally done, unless these items
could be converted into and exisiting indebtedness. Mr. C.W. noe
speaking; in behalf of the First State Bank of Clermont stated that
the Bank would accept from the city a certificate of indebtedness
covering these items, upon the ubderstanding that the same should
be r tired out of the proceeds fo t he sale of the proposed bonds.
And that,in case the proposed And issue should not carry, then to
return to the City the said certificate of indebtedness, leaving; these
matters in their present status, and that the Bank Quld'bxtend the
accomodation to the City with out any interest char•^e. Their upon,
the folowing resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded,
adopted by the unanamouns affirmitive vote of the Council. rdr.
Bess offered an Ordinance No.62 . An Ordinance for the calling and
holding of an election in the City of Clermont a Tunicipal Corpo-

taining a public fire department, and purshaseing necessary equip-
ment therefor; all within the corporate limits of said city,
aag; regating the sum of $60.000.00 which ordinance was read in full
Ordinance was read a second time. On motion duly Made and seconded,
the said Ordinance was passed and adopted by the unanimous vote of
the Council.
The President of the Council tnen stated that in his opinion , the
interests of the town would best be served by the purshase and in-
stallation of a 100 H.P. En;;ine and 75 K4rT generator in place of the
larger ki,7ine and generator which had been decided upon in a previous'
meeting of the Council and for which a tentative order had been
placed, and stated the facts and reasons upon which his belief was
based, After considerable discussing, on motion duly made and
second-ed, it was resolved to invite Mr. risk representative of the adorth-
ington Pump and Machinery Corp. to come back to Clermont and submit
