Minutes of last meeting read and approved. Report by J.D. Jones who met with Civic Club, proposition made by Club to Council as follows: they to furnish lot and lower floor, Council to build 2nd story and stairway with right to pay amount upper story cost at any time. Committee continued. The street Committee report thru Mr Waite, as soon as he can get measurre- ments from A.P. Gibson regard to lots to be transferred on Highway- that he will Issue necess•- r•y papers to make transfer from. and. to Clermont Heights Co. Mr. Morrison reported to the Council thst he has arr-anged to at arms to light poles between 8th St and t°dest Ave sufficiently long to avoid coming in. contact with trees. Mr Broom reported that committee are getting prices on cover and book- let for publicity, report at next meeting. Bess reported bill boards comtract will not be renewed for coming year. Ordinance read by Mr. Waite covering same asked to be changed. Report by Treas. C.V1. Roe. Moved by Brovm, 2nd by Jones that resolution be passed that $830.00 be borrowed from First State Bank for Interest due, also resolution passed to borrow P30.00 for 90 days to pay bills now due against General Fund. Check from Munson and Bess for $1323.30 to-gether with a letter from Mr. Nunson covering matter of demurrage between T&GRR and City with request that same be filed for future reference. Moved by Jones, 2nd By Westbrook that negotiations with the South Fla. Power Company be droppdd and -we proceed to get prices and terms on new power unit. Carried. Moved by Brown, 2nd by Jones that a committee be appointed to get prices and terms from different firms for installing new plant. The chair appointed the Utilities Committee. Moved by Brown, 2nd by "estbrook that notes -now due held by The First National Wank am•%unting... to $4,000.00 and First State $4.000.00 and Mrs. Goodenough $2500.00 be renewed. Carried.. Moved by Brown 2nd by Jones that the City Attorney try to secure Tax re- bate from County if possible. Carried. Moved by Westbrook., 2nd by Brown that R.W. Zimmerman and IN.B. MQCain be appointed to as-•ist Ass::ssor Blackburn in taking 1924 Tax appralsement. Carried. The Chair asked Ordinance Committee to-gether with Mayor and City Attorney toinake a thorough :inspection of all old Ordinances, see what changes need to be made, cost etc. and report at next meeting. Moved by Brown, 2nd by Westbrook that Committee be appointed to confer with the officials of the eth Church to -wards getting some safer method of parking in front of the -'Church on 7th St, Carried. Moved by Brown, 2nd by Westbrook that that the charge on in,--tallin, elec. meters be made $9.00 instead of $7.00 as formerly on account of increased cost. Carried. Mr Brown reported that committee on boiklets is trying; to deal with Le sburg Paper mill for covers for proposed booklet. Report from C.W. Roe Treas. Report by Brown and Westbrook that it has been decided to use the East side of Street only for parking purposes in front of the Meth Church. Report from E. itzrodt and D.L. Morrison. Moved by Brown-, 2nd by Westbrook that note for $500.00 held by First State Bank no w due be paid. Carried. Wm Bess chairman of Ordinance Committee submitted the folowing Ordinances for consideration, as follows: An ordinance to regulate the erection and in- spection of buildings and to provide for the issuein; of building; permits. An Oridnance to provide for the construction and maintainance of side: -calks on the streets of Clermont to provide for the service of notice u.)on -the owners or occupants of ab utting-property. To provide penalties for the failure of property owners to construct sidewa k :.hen so ordered by the City Council, to provide for the construction of said sidewalks by the City when the owners of such property shall fail to construct same and -to provide for the collection and enforcement of such construction. The above Ordinances were read and on motion were adopted. Moved by Brown, 2nd by Westbrook that the r1les be suspended and a second reading be gigen. Carried. moved, 2nd by Bess that the time limit for paying city taxes of 1923 be extended to the first of May 1924. Carried.
