02-05-1924 Regular MeetingFeb. 5hh. 1924. Meetin? was called to order by Pres, House. Roll call: present, Bro1m, Jones, ''festbrook and Bes::. Minutes of Jan 1st rer-d and accepted. Report of Finance Committee, that'notes with Atlantic National Bank had been reneged for 90 days. Report by H.C. Brown on quality of water. Committee decided that it would be doubtful of vetting better water by continuing this well, there- for they recomended sinking a small test well to see what can be found. Moved and seconded th�.t committee be discharged. Carried. Moved by Brown, 2nd by Jones that the Ladies be alloyed to bring matter of Civic Club Building before Council, Mrs Roe asked if Council cared to help with building. t,"oved and 2nd that Special Committee be anointed and report back to Council. Carried. Finance Comr°itter w.,:s appointed to act as such committee. Mr E.O. Young, representing Clermont Heights Co. asked the Council to take some action transfering lots crossed by Scenic Hi,hway in the 1ieights Moved and 2 nd that the above be referred to Committee on Streets and City Attorney. Carried. Mr. H.F. Bailey asked permission of Council to move old Baptiste Church #down 5th St.. Referred to Street Committee. C.O. Roe asked that Electric wires be removed from trees along his park- ing. Referred to Street Committee. Corm,-ittee from Unity Club asked for co-operationof Co_�_ricil in matter of issueing booklet. This 7,,..,tter was referred to J.D. Oones and H.C. browm. Discussion of the matter of R.R. vrossing on 8th St. by C.O. Roe and others. At Forney Waite .vas instrufCted to take the matter up with T & G and ACL R.R. Reports were read from C.10. Roe, D.L. ik,,,orrison, and E Litzrodt. Mr. Isam Blackburn was in attendance and was installed in office of Assessor by Mayor McKinney. Bonds covering Assessor, Tax Collector, Tres., Clerk, and Marshall were approved and filed. Moved by Jones, 2nd by Bess that Interest due on Notes held by First State Bank be paid. Carried. Ordinance prepared by Mayor P�r"�ehinney and B. W. , aite governing pool- rooms read and after di,-cus,=ion motion carried to suspend the rules and ,rive same a second reading, after which Ordinance was ordered passed and approved with a minimum fine of $25.00, maximum $100.00. Carried. Moved by Brown, 2nd by 7.-estbrook that voucher be drain in favor of T & 1 R.R. for $574.00 to pay bill of demurrage on cement. Carried. Moved by Brown, 2nd by ` 'IIestbrook that Finance Committee adjust bill of L.H. Zinser. Carried. Moved by Bess, 2nd by testbrook that bill of Pemberton be left for ad- justment to Chairman and D.L. Tax Assessor to be paid onehalf of one percent of money collected as taxes, asE,,is,tants to receive $5.00 per day ea.h for not to exceed 10 days. Carried. Moti:)n carried that Ordinance Committee be asked to frame an Ordinance preventing the erection of advertising bill boards in the city limits. Carried. Moved and 2nd that street and alley committee be empowered to relay sidewalk on north side of Montrose St ect in co-operption with J.D. Jones. City to provide filling to raise sidewalk to grade and relay all solid blocks, Jones to lay new walk. Moved and 2nd th,!t Resolution be passed authorizing City to renew loan held by H.L. Johnson and pay interest due on same. Carried. Moved by Brown, 2nd by ',!estbrook that J.D. qones be paid $3.00 Int. due on $400.00 note. Carried. Adjourned. March 4th-1924. Mr. Morrison reported to the Council that he has arn•n?ed to attach arms to light poles between 8th St and 17est Ave sufficiently long to avoid coming in contact with trees. Mr Broom reported that committee are getting prices on cover and book- let for publicity, report at ne:Zt meeting. Bess reported bilk_ boards comtract will not be renewed for coming year. Moved by Broom, 2nd by Jones that resolution be passed that $830.00 be borrowed from First State Bank for Interest due, also resolution passed to borrow $230.00 for 90 days to pay bills now due againL•t General Fund. Check from Munson and Bess for $1323.30 to-gether with a letter from Mr. Munson covering matter of demurrage between T&GRR and City with request that same be filed for future reference. Moved by Jones, 2nd By Westbrook that negotiations with the South Fla. Power Company be dro)pdd and -we proceed to get prices and terms on new power unit. Carried. Moved by Brown, 2nd by Jones that a committee be appointed to get prices and terms from different firms for installing new plant. The chair appointed the Utilities Committee. MkoCain be appointed to as ist Ass.s:or Blackburn in taking 1924 Tax appraisement. Carried. The Chair asked Ordinance Committee to-gether with Mayor and City Attorney tomake a thorough inspection of all old ordinances, see what changes need to be made, cost etc. and report at next meeting. Moved by Brown, 2nd by Westbrook that Committee be appointed to confer with the officials of the eth Church to -wards getting some safer method of parking in front of' the -Church on 7th St. Carried. Moved by Brown, 2nd by Westbrook that that the charge on installing elec. meters be made $9,00 instead of $7.00 as formerly on account of increased cost. Carried. :i..
