06-11-1924 Regular MeetingMinutes of Meeting of City Council of the City of Clermont June llth, 1924. Pursuant to adjournment a. regular meeting of the City Council was held on.thellth day of June, 1924, at 1:00 o'clock P. M., at the usual meeting place of the Council. Present, Messrs. H. L. House, H. C. Brown, D. J. Westbrook, Wm. Bess and J. D. Jones, being all of the members of the Council. air. H.. L. House, president of the Council, presided at the meeting. Mr. B. W. Wait, City Attorney, presented to the Council proper proof of publication of the ordinance passed and adopted by the Council on the 6th day of May, A. -U. 1924, approved the same day by the Mayor, providing for the holding of a special election on the loth day of June, A. D. 1924, on the question of issuing bonds in the aggregate amount of $65,000.00 for certain purposes. He also presented proper proof of publication of the Mayor's proclamation calling said election, and if the notice of opening books of registration. Upon motion duly made and seconded, the said proofs of publica- tign were ordered filed in the archives of the City.. The Mayor and City Clerk then presented to the meeting the sealed duplicate returns of the: Judges and Clerk of the special bond electioh held on the loth day of June, A. D. 1924, together with the ballot box, contain- ing the ballots cast in said election and poll list` and oath of election officials. Upon motion duly made and seconded, the return of said election officials was ordered filed in the archives of the City. Thereupon, the Council proceeded publicly to canvass the ballots cast in said election, and, upon completion of said canvass, the following resolution was offered and adopted by the unanimous vote of all the members of the Council: WHEREAS, a special bond election was hold in the City of Clermont on the loth day of June, A. D. 1924, to authorize the City Council of the City of Clermont to issue negotiable coupon bonds of said City, under the terms and provisions of a certain ordinance entitled: "An Ordinance Providing .for the Calling and Holding of an Election in the City of Clermont, a Municipal Corporation, in the County of Lake and State of Florida, for the purpose of Authorizing the Issuance of Negotiable C oup•oaands of the said City of Clermont, for the Following Purposes, to -wit: Sixteen 'Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars (016,700.00 for the Purpose of Purchasing and Install- ing aneAdditional Unit for the Municipal Electric Light Plant; Eleven Thou- sand Three Hundred Dollars ($11,300.00) for the Purpose of Rebuilding and Extending the Electric Light Lines and Water Mains; Thirty-five Thousand gollars ($35,000.00) for the Purpose of Paying, Settling and Discharging the said City's Present Outstanding General Indebtedness; Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) for the purpose of Establishing and Maintaining a Pub - lie Fire Department, and Purchasing Necessaey Equipment therefore; All with- in the Corporate Limits of said City, Aggregating the Sum of Sixty-five Thou- sand Dollars ($$5,000.00)" passed and adopted on the 6th day of May, A. D. 1924, and approved on the 6th day -of May, A. Thirty-five Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00) for the purpose of paying, settling and dischargingthe said City's present outstanding general indebtedness In favor of issuing bonds in the sum of Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) for the purpose.of establishing and maintaining a public fire department, and.purchasing necessary equipment therefore Against issuing bonds in the ($2,000.00) for the purpose ing a public fire department9 equipment therefore sum of Two Thousand Dollars of establishing and maintain - and purchasing necessary Number of ballots thrown out, it being impossible to determine the intention .of the voter. WHEREAS, as required by the said ordinance hereinbefore referred to, the City Council has on this day canvassed the returns of said election. Bess offered an ordinance entitled: "An Ordinance'Establishing the Date, Numbers, Denomination, Date of Maturity, and Form of the Bonds Provided for in a Certain Ordinance of the City of Clermont, Passed and Adopted by the City Council Thereof, on the 6th day of May A. D. 1924, and R-eceived and Approved by the Mayor of saidCity on the 6th day of May, A. Mr. H. C. Brown then moved that unanimous consent be given that said ordinance be read in full ofr the second time. This motion was seconded by Mr. J. D. Jones, and, upon a roll call vote, was unanimously catried by the affirmative vote of the Council. Thereupon, said ordincance eras read in full for the second time. Mr. W. M. Bees then moved that the said ordinance be passed and adopted. Saaid motion was seconded by Mr. Do Jo Westbrook. Thereupon said ordinance was passed ind adopted by the unanimous roll call vote of the Council as follows: Upon motion duly made dnd .oecdndad! the- City Attorney was instructed to proceed as soon as poseibbe to institute pooper validation prodeedings as to the said bonds. Mr. W. M. Bess offered an ordinance entitled: "An Ordinance to Regulate and Control the Use of Sidewalks, Streets and Highways within the Corporate Limits of the City of Clermont by Vehicles and Pedestrians", whIch ordinance was read in full for the firdt time. Mr. J. D. Jones then moved that unanimous consent be given that said ordinance be read in full for the second time. This motion was seconded by Mr. Ie C. Brown and unanimously parried by the affirmative vote of the Council. Thereupon, said ordinance was read in full for the second time. Mr. No M. Bess then moved that said ordinance be passed and adopted. This motion was seconded by Mr. J. D.
