Minutes of Re~ar Adjourned Meeting of theOity Oouncil of the City of Olrmont, held August 6th, A. D. 1925, at eight o'clock P. M. The City Council of theCity of Olermont met in regular adj ourned session at the office of the Clerk of said Oi ty, that being the usual meeting place of the City Oouncil, on August 6th, A. D.1925, at eight o'clock P. M. Present, Messrs. H. C. Brown, President of the Council, O. E. T$bor, A ndy Aashei., W. N. MC- Kinney, Kayor , and B. W.Wait, City Attorney. AbSent, W. .. Bess, 1sam Blackburn, and Miss Stella Thompson, City Clak. The meeting was presided over by .r. H. C. Brown, President of the Oouncil. Mr. B. W. Wait was appointed to tale the minutes of said meeting, in the absence of the Clerk. Kr, Brown presented to the council a letter which he had received from J. W. Hunter, relative to the street crossings on 4th Street and !iake Avenue, bf> which the right of the city to crosS the tracks of the railread company at those points was admitted and the validity of the paving assessments recognized. On motion d~ made and seconded, an ordinance entitled: IAn ordinance granting to the Lake Oounty Telephone Oompany, t1;s successors and assigns, a franchise along the streets, alleys and public places within the City of Clermont, Lake Councy, Florida, for the purpose of cOnBtructing, maintaining and operating a tele- phone system in the aaid City of Clermont, Florida, and prescrib- e ing the conditions under which such franchise shall be exercised' was introduced. On motion duly made and seconded, the rules were suspended , and the ortinance given its second reading. Brown then presented to the COWlcil lDip and pro- . J:. file prepared by theCity ngineer, showing the grade and curb o . e~evations on Fifth Street from its intersection witq Seminole Street to Station 6 plus 51, and on Scenie Highway from its inter- section with Fifth Street eastward from Itation 3 plus 50 to Sta- tion 6 plus 62. On motion duly made and seconded, it wae reso~ved that. that the said grade and curb elevations be, and henceforth remain the esta li~shed elevations between aaid points, and that said map and profile be filed in the archives of the City. Mr. Brown them stated to the Oouncil that Mr. Cash, the former night policeman, had absented himself from his job for several days. He further stated that the Oity Marshal had in- dicated a willingness to remain on duty until 10:30 or 11:00 P. M. provided the City would grant him an increase in salary of $25.00 per month and install. anipay for a telephone at his msidence. On motion duly made and seconded, the foregoing recommen~ tion I was 'adopted. Mr. Brown then reported the progress wh~h has been made by the Layne-Southeastern Company in the matter of boring a well for the City, stating that two test wells had been bored, neither of which bad proven entirely satisfactory, and that a third. well is now being aunk. Mr. Brown rrthen stated to the OOWlcil that he had proposed to HendriE-Nicholson Oompany to effect an exchange of Lot No. ___ in Block 91 which is (Xl ned by theCityfof the north 100 feet of Lot No. 17 in Block 82, now owned by ,sa.id Hendrix-Nicholson Company, inasmuch as the last mentioned property is perhaps the best avail- able site upon which to erect the prqposed city hall and fire sta- tion, 'stating thbt one property could be exchanged for the other, on equal terms, and that Hendrix-Nicholson Company had consented to make such a trade. On motion duly made and seconed, the proper authorities were directed to convey the city lot to Hendtix-Nicholson Oompany, and to obtain in exchange therefore a proper conveyance from Hendrix- Nicholson Oompany of the morth 100 feet of Lot 17, in Block 82. Wait then presented. to the Council proof of publication of the notice of opening books of registration, which WaS ordered filed in the archives of the City. Sealed duplicate returns of the Judges and Clerk of the specialmond election held on the 5th day of August, A.D. 1925, together with the ballot boa, containing the ballo~ cast in said electi con and poll list, were then presented to the Council. /< Upon moti en duly made and seconded, the return of said election officials was ordered filed in the archives of the City. Seotion III. ......... Any or all of said bonds may be registered as to prinoi- pal only in a transfer book or bookS to be kept by the City Clerk for that purpose. If the owner or holder of any of said bonds desires to register the same as to pripcipal, such owner or holder shall deliver said bond or bonds to theOity Ulerk and it shall.be the duty 0 f said Olerk to register the same as to principal in said transfer book or books, and ~~Q~: endorse such registration upon said bond or bonds, and thereafter the principal of said bond or bonds shall ~e paid to the registered owner thereof last appear- ingupon said' book or books.
