REGULARLY ADJOURNED MEETING
An adjourned meeting of the city Council of the City of
Clermont was held at the City hall, Tuesday, November
16, 1954.
In the 'bsence of Council President Arthur George, the meeting
was called te order by Vice President B. G. Winston with the
followIng members present: Konsler, Sickler, Olivenbaum,
Winston. Absent: Geerge. Others present were Yayor Boyd,
Supt. Sheld$n, Police ChIef Clark, City Attorney Morse and
Fireman Fullwood.
The minutes of the meeting held November~lE(, 1954, were read
and approved as read.
Mr. Konsler of the Streets Committee stated that Arthur Dean
had requested that the city rebuild his driveway which had
beed destroyed by the building of highway "50". May-or
Boyd sta ted that the city had agreed: to hard surf.ce the
driveway after Dean had clayed same.
Mr. Konsler also brought up the matter of a Railrlad crossing
bet..en C1erment Builders Supply and Wolfe & Konsler; atating
that the entrance to this cressing frem the Seuth side waa
en private property and was creating something ot a traffic
problem to Clermont Builders supply. The matter was discussed
but ne solution was reached.
The matter ot a new white-way lighting system on highway "50"
was discussed and tabled.
Motion was made by Konsler, seconded by Siwk1er, that the City
make the necessary till en the West aide ot Fifth street from
highway "50" to Juniata street, in order to assist in the
construction et the sidewalks ordered constructed in that area.
Mation carried.
M~er Boyd reported that he had received a report from the
State Read Department relative to the traffic en "50" and
that they recommended that nQ traffic lights be installed.
Mayor Boyd was requested to ask the State Road Department
to take another traffic count during the Winter Months
and as soon as possible.
Mayor Boyd suggested that the Street Committee investigated
the cost of having sand pumped for additIonal fill en the
West side of Lake Shore drive on the East side of Lake
Winona.
Mr. A. P. Long, through Clerk Johnsen, requested that the
Ceuncil revaluate Alta Vista addition for tax purposes, due
to the fact that sAid land was not recorded as a sub-division
until atter January 1st. of 1954, and therefore should be on
an acreage basis.
Metion was made by Konsler, seconded by Sick1or, that the
Clerk direct Mrs. Stanley, Tax assessor, to revaluate the
land in question on the 1913 acreage basis, plus the same
general increase of land values .f ether properties in that
area. Motion carried.
Motion by Konsler, seconded by Sickler, that Tax Collector
Johnson be given the authority t. correct any City ot Clermont
tax statements to agree with COUfityj tax Statements as
regards exemptions. Motion carried.
The chair appointed Mayor Boyd, Councilman Olivenbaum and
Supt. Shelden as a committee to contact the Ford, Chevrolet
and Plymouth agencies and obtain prices on a car fer Police
use.
