Head Start Awareness Month
WI~REAS, Lake Community Action Agency, Inc., anon-profit corporation
since February 6, 1966, directs and oversees the HEAD START PROGRAM in Lake
County; and
WHEREAS, Head Start is a comprehensive child development program for
low-income children ages three through five; and
WHEREAS, .Head Start emphasizes and provides programs in education,
social services, parental education and involvement, nutrition, physical and mental
health, and dental services; and
WHEREAS, October 1995 has been designated as Head Start Awareness
Month, in recognition of the benefits and services provided to local communities by
the Head Start Program; and
WHEREAS, on Friday, October 6, 1995 Lake Community Action Agency,
Inc. hosts a tour of its Head Start Centers and .Resource Center to familiarize citizens
within Lake County of the programs it provides; and
WHEREAS, Head Start is celebrating its 30th National Anniversary, one of
our nation's most successful social programs to help low-income pre-school children
and families by providing these families health, education, and social services; and
WI~REAS, Head Start has continued to expand its opportunity for pre-school
children with the opening of the new Leesburg Child Development Center on August
14, 1995,
NOW, THEREFORE, I Robert A. Pool by virtue of the authority vested in
me as Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of Florida do hereby proclaim the
month of October 1995 as
Head Start Awareness Month
in the City of Clermont, and urge all citizens; governments; businesses; and other
civic, social and professional organizations in Lake County to recognize and applaud
the merits, benefits, and accomplishments of the Head Start Program, and urge them
to continue to support this program and its endeavors to provide quality services to
children and their families in Lake County.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal
of the City of Clermont to be affixed at Clermont this 2 th day of September in the
year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and ninety five.
