WHEREAS, GRETCHEN NONA CZECH will be honored by friends and
relatives on the occasion of her 100th birthday on May 21, 1995; and
VV~~REAS, she was born in Manatee, Michigan on May 21, 1895 and has
been a resident of this community since 1958; and
WHEREAS, she became the wife of Henry on June 3, 1920 in Cleveland,
Wisconsin and this marriage was blessed with two children, six grandchildren; and
nine great grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her duties as wife and mother, she has been active
in church and civic responsibilities, including Treasurer of the Clermont Garden Club
for 17 years, Treasurer of the Episcopalian Church Women, Chairperson of the St.
Matthias Greeting Committee, Board Person of Bishop Gray Inn in Davenport, and an
American Red Cross volunteer "grey lady" for many years; and
WHEREAS, during a long and productive lifetime, she has demonstrated in
countless ways her dedication to the welfare of others and has earned the respect and
affection of people from all walks of life and all ages; and
WHEREAS, she has lived during the most eventful century of this world's
history, and in her quiet way has been a force for good and a stabilizing influence on
those around her during these turbulent years;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the virtue of the authority
vested in me as Mayor of the City of Clermont, I do hereby deem it an honor and
pleasure to extend this Certificate of Recognition to GRETCHEN NONA CZECH on
the occasion of her 100th birthday, with sincere congratulations and best wishes for
many more happy, productive years in the future.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal
of the City of Clermont to be affixed at Clermont this 21st day of May, 1995.
