PROCLAMATION
Honoring Garden Week June 2 -9, 1994
WHEREAS, June 2-9, 1994 has been designated National Garden Week by
the National Garden Association; and
WHEREAS, the gardeners of this country produce a multitude of foods for our
people and enable us to export to other countries which are in desperate need; and
WHEREAS, our gardeners help to preserve and foster our traditional spirit of
independence and individual initiative; and
WI~~REAS, gardening instills in our people, both young and old, a greater
appreciation for nature, in general, and for our beautiful land in particular and such
appreciation naturally leads to a greater respect and care for our environment; and
WHEREAS, gardening in addition to being most beneficial for our country,
furnishes a pleasant and productive full or part-time activity for a large number of our
citizens; and
WHEREAS, our gardens also yield flowers of great variety and breathtaking
beauty and these flowers bring beauty into our lives and satisfy our aesthetic needs,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Pool Mayor of the City of Clermont, Florida
hereby proclaim June 2-9, 1994 as GARDEN WEEK in the City of Clermont and
call upon all citizens to acquaint themselves with the joys and benefits of gardening.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal
of the City of Clermont to be affixed at Clermont this day of May, 1994.
