Recognition Proclamation
WHEREAS, February 13-19, 1994 has been designated Vocational Education Week
by the American Vocational Association; and
WHEREAS, vocational education provides Americans with Skills for a Lifetime; and
WHEREAS, vocational education is the backbone of a strong, well-educated work
force, which fosters productivity in business and industry and contributes to America's
leadership in the international marketplace; and
WHEREAS, vocational education gives high school students experience in practical,
meaningful applications of basic skills such as reading, writing, and mathematics, thus
improving the quality of their education, motivating potential dropouts, and giving all
students leadership opportunities in their fields and in their communities; and
WHEREAS, vocational education offers individuals lifelong opportunities to learn
new skills which provide them with career choices and personal satisfaction; and
WHEREAS, vocational education .stimulates the growth and vitality of our business
and industries and those of the entire nation by preparing workers for the occupations
forecast to experience the largest and fastest growth in the next decade;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Pool Mayor of the City of Clermont, Florida
hereby proclaim February 13-19, 1994 as VOCATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK in
Clermont and urge all citizens to become familiar with the services and benefits offered by
the vocational education programs in this community and to support and participate in these
programs to enhance their individual work skills and productivity.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the
City of Clermont to be affixed at Clermont this 8th day of February, 1994.
