Mayor's Proclamation
Max Hooks 100th Birthday
WHEREAS, Max Hooks who was born in 1893 to Mr. & Mrs. R. C. Hooks
at their homestead in the City of Clermont; and
WHEREAS, Max helped to form the character of Clermont in its inception by
working as a sand pump operator at the Monte Vista Canal at the age of 15, and a
collector for the newly incorporated City of Clermont in 1916, and then as a dairy
man for 25 years, delivering from house to house until he sold the herd in 1950; and
WHEREAS, Max and his wife Mae were blessed with two daughters and three
sons: Marion, Herring Hollis, Jerry Oliver, Robert Max, and Elizabeth Maxine; and
WHEREAS, during a long and productive lifetime, he has demonstrated in
countless ways his dedication to the welfare of others and has earned the respect and
affection of people from all walks of life and all ages; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I Robert A. Pool, by virtue of the authority vested in
me as Mayor, and on behalf of the entire City Council and all of the citizens of
Clermont, do hereby deem it an honor and pleasure to extend this Certificate of
Recognition to Max on the occasion of his 100th birthday, with sincere congratulations
and best wishes for many more happy, productive years in the future.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal
of the City of Clermont to be affixed this 2nd day of January, in the year of our Lord
nineteen hundred and ninety-three.
