WHEREAS, head injury is the leading cause of death of persons under the age
of forty-four and kills more Floridians under the age of thirty-four than all other
diseases combined; and
WHEREAS, an estimated fourteen thousand head injuries, which physically
and mentally impair our residents occur in the State of Florida each year; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Association of the National Head Injury Foundation
was organized to advocate on behalf of victims of head injury, to provide a
clearinghouse for information and resources and to provide a support group network
for survivors of head injury and their families; and
WHEREAS, public awareness of the consequences of head injury is critical to
public understanding that will lead to the prevention of injuries that will enhance the
recovery process for head injury survivors; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate that all Floridians join in the effort to reduce
head injuries and enhance the educational resources available in the treatment of head
injuries; and
WHEREAS, the effects of head injury are emotionally and financially
devastating to families;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I Robert A. Pool by virtue of
the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of Florida do
hereby proclaim the month of October, 1992 as

in recognition of Floridians with head injury and the outstanding services furnished by
the Florida Association of the National Head Injury Foundation.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal
of the City of Clermont to be affixed at Clermont this 13th day of October, 1992.
