Foster Parents Dayproclamation
MAYORAL PROCLAMATION
FOSTER PARENTS' DAY
MAY 8, 1990
WHEREAS the American famil defined broadl as two or more

individuals who assume typical family obligations, is the
foundation upon which all individuals develop their skills to lead
productive, satisfying and independent lives, and
WHEREAS, the strength of many American families is currently
being challenged by outside pressures and lack of resources, and
WHEREAS, dysfunctional families take their toll not only on
family members, but on society as a whole, and
WHEREAS, thousands of children in this country and elsewhere
are waiting for the same thing; to be a part of a family, to be
someone's son or daughter, and
WHEREAS, many of these children are school-aged, same have
physical or mental disabilities, some come with brothers and
sisters, and many are minorities.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert A. Pool, Mayor of the City of
Clermont in recognition of the Foster Parents of Lake County who
open their homes and hearts and provide love and care for abused
and neglected children and who provide these children with an
opportunity for a life of accomplishments, dignity and purpose, do
hereby proclaim and recognize May 8, 1990 as
FOSTER PARENTS DAY
in the City of Clermont and I call upon the citizens of Clermont
to join with us in support and appreciation of Lake County's Foster
Parents.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my
hand and caused the Seal of the City of
Clermont to be affixed this 24th day of
April in the year of our Lord nineteen
hundred and ninety.
