MAYORAL PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, teaching is a powerful profession that deserves honor and
respect; and
WHEREAS, no other professional has so many opportunities to make
such a lasting and life-changing impact on the lives of so many;
and
WHEREAS, Lake County schools are filled with more than 1, 2 00 caring
and qualified professionals who have dedicated their lives to this
important calling; and
WHEREAS, maintaining and recruiting top quality teachers is an
ongoing commitment that deserves continued district emphasis; and
WHEREAS, using the themes "Teachers: The Power Source" and
"Teaching is Hot in Florida," schools and districts throughout the
State are participating in a campaign to recognize the importance
of teachers; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City of Clermont to add its
support for this teacher recognition campaign sponsored by the
Florida Public Eduction Awareness Committee, a joint effort of the
Sunshine State School Public Relations Association and the Florida
Department of Education; and
WHEREAS, one week each year is set aside for special activities to
call attention to the importance of teachers in Lake County,
NOW, THEREFORE, I Robert A. Pool, Mayor of the City of Clermont,
do hereby proclaim the week of May 14 - 20, 1989 as:
TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK
in the City of Clermont and encourage our schools and the entire
community to become involved in activities to recognize the
importance of our teachers.
