MAYOR'S PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, engineering plays a significant role in the growth
and development of Central Florida's cities, industry, communi-
cations, and transportation; and
WHEREAS, engineers through the practical and economic
application of nature's forces and materials help make this area
of Florida a better place in which to live and work; and
WHEREAS, engineers have demonstrated their dedication to
protecting the public safety, health and welfare as their
professional duties; and
WHEREAS, engineers use their special knowledge and expertise
to plan, design, construct, and maintain improvements to man's
environment; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the engineering profession be
honored during the week we will celebrate the birth of George
Washington, one of the Country's first and most famous
engineers; and
WHEREAS, during the week members of the National Society of
Professional Engineers, the Florida Engineering Society, and the
Central Florida Engineers Week Committee, will sponsor activities.
focusing attention on the engineering profession;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Clermont, Florida
hereby proclaims the week of February 19-25, 1984, as
ENGINEERS WEEK

and urges all citizens of Clermont to give special recognition to
the achievements of the engineering profession and its individual
members.
