MAYORAL PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, October 19, 2981, marks the Two hundredth Anniversary
of the Victory at Yorktown, Virginia; and
WHEREAS, to accord official recognition to this memorable
Anniversary, and to the patriotic exercise that will form a noteworthy
feature of the occasion, seems fitting and proper;
NOW THEREFORE, I, James M. Hoskinson, by virtue of the
authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of
Florida, do hereby proclaim the day of 0etober1.9, 1981 as
YORKTOWN DAY
the 200th Anniversary of Victory at Yorktown, Virginia, when the British
Forces under Lord Earl Charles Cornwallis surrendered to the Allied
Forces under General George Washington on October 19, 1981.
This Zast great battle of the American Revolution, won with the help
of the French Fleet under Admiral de Grasse and the French Army under
Compe de Rochambeau, signaled the end of the American Revolution,
although the Treaty of Peace was not signed until September 3, 1783
at Paris.
