Engineer's WeekPROCLAMATION
CITY OF CLERMONT, FLORIDA
•
WHEREAS, engineering plays a significant role in
the growth and development of Central Florida's cities, in-
dustry, communications, and transportation, and
WHEREAS, engineers through the practical and eco-
nomic application of natures forces and materials help make
this area of Florida a better place in which to live and
work, and
WHEREAS, engineers have demonstrated their ded-
ication to protecting the safety, health, and welfare of
the public, and
WHEREAS, engineers utilize their special know-
ledge and expertise to plan, design, construct, and main-
tain improvements to man's environment, and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that the engineering
profession be honored during the week we celebrate the
birthday of George Washington, one of the country's first
and most famous engineers, and
WHEREAS, during the week members of the National
Society of Professional Engineers and the Florida Engineer-
ing Society in Central Florida Chapter, will sponsor activ-
ities focusing attention on the engineering profession;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Claude E. Smoak, Jr., Mayor of
the City of Clermont, Florida, by virtue of the authority
vested in me, do hereby Proclaim the week of February 22 - 28,
1976, as
ENGINEER'S WEEK
in Clermont, Florida, and urge that special recognition be
given the achievements of the engineering profession and its
individual members.
