Poison Prevention WeekNATIONAL POISON PREVENTION WEEK PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the tragic problem of accidental poisoning of children by
medicines and household products continues to confront our community;
and
WHEREAS, these products, when used as directed, are of value to households
and families, but, when in the hands of a child, can be hazardous--
even deadly; and
WHEREAS, poison prevention measures such as the locking up of medicines and
household products, and the following of directions for use and observance
of warning statements on the label, have been emphasized for many years;
and
WHEREAS, safety packaging for many hazardous products is now available and,
when used properly in conjunction with basic poison prevention techniques,
should significantly reduce the number of poisoning accidents; and
THEREFORE, I, Claude E. Smoak, Jr., Mayor, of the City of Clermont, Lake
County, Florida do hereby proclaim March 17-23, 1974, as Poison Prevention
Week in this City and I urge participation in this observance by all
individuals and community groups sharing our interest in protecting
youngsters unable to protect themselves.
