t-d~iEREAS, the week of i-iay 10th through P•!ay lFth has keen designated
as fda.ti onal Police !~Jeek and May 15th as Peace Officers "1emori al -.'ay, and
• !JHEREAS, the Police and other Peace officers of our nation have
dedicated their efforts, and often given their lives, to and in the
enforcement of our laws and the protection of the general public, and
!JMEREAS, at this particular time in our history the proper function
of all la~v enforcement officers is of the utmost importance, and
'sJHEREAS, there is unfotunately a present ti^end to demean the Peace
officers for the performance of their duties, and
!~FJEREAS, I am most thankful for the protection afforded me by the
Peace officers of this nation and particularly our local Police, therefore
I, Don E. Smith, tiayor of the City of Clermont, proclaim that
the week of Ma,y 10th through May 16th be observed as ~dational Police
Officers !^Jeek and that on May 15th, Peace Officers P~9emori al Oay be
observed and that the flag at the Police Station be flown at half mast
in honor and memory of those Peace Officers who have given their
lives in the performance of their duties.
