Proclamation
1NFtereas, our unselfish, patriotic forefathers led our Nation through many hardships to
ensure our freedom; and
`tiVhereas, George Washington, born on February 22nd, our first and greatest American, is
the Father of our Country, without whose leadership we would not have a United States of America; and
1Nhereas, Abraham Lincoln, born on February I2th, our sixteenth President, abolished
slavery so that all men could be free and enjoy the fruits of their labors; and
Whereas, Ronald Reagen, born on February 6th, our fortieth President, fought
communism and was instrumental in the removal of the Berlin Wall; and
~hereaS, February I6th is designated as President's Day, a national holiday honoring our
past and present Presidents; and
"tiVhereas, the month of February also celebrates Black History Month and the many
achievements of Black Americans, including Reverend Martin Luther King, who had a dream that all
mankind would live in harmony; and
1~Vhereas, we honor the dedication of our military who continues to defend the freedoms
our Forefathers so bravely fought for that have made our country the best in the World.
Nvtiv, 2Jherefore, I, Harold S. Turville, by virtue of the authority vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of Florida do hereby proclaim the month of February as
AMERICAN HISTORY MOI~TTI-I
In honoring all our American Heroes, as the National Society of the Daughters of the American
Revolution do each year.
In `1Nitness 1~Vhereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of
