Head Start Awareness Month
WHEREAS, Lake Community Action Agency, Inc., anon-profit corporation since
February 6, 1966, directs the HEAD START PROGRAM in Lake County; and
WHEREAS, Head Start is a comprehensive child development program for low-
income children ages three through five; and
WHEREAS, Head Start emphasizes and provides programs in education, social
services, parental education and involvement, nutrition, physical and mental health, and
dental services; and has continued to expand its opportunity for pre-school children with the
opening of the new Eustis Child Development Center in December of 1996,
WHEREAS, October 6-10, 1997 has been designated as Head Start Awareness
Week which will include an Open House at the Child Care Development Centers during that
week and end with a luncheon at the Resource Center at 1224 Hazzard Street in Eustis at
12:30 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 1997.
NOW, THEREFORE, I Robert A. Pool by virtue of the authority vested in me as
• Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of Florida do hereby proclaim the month of
October, 1997 as
Head Start Awareness Month
in the City of Clermont, and urge all citizens; governments; businesses; and other
civic, social and professional organizations in Lake County to recognize and applaud
the merits, benefits, and accomplishments of the Head Start Program, and urge them
to continue to support this program and its endeavors to provide quality services to
children and their families in Lake County.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal
of the City of Clermont to be affixed at Clermont this 3rd day of October in the year
of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and Winery seven.
