National Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Week (2)• City of Clermont National Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Week May 11-17, 1998 Recognition Proclamation WHEREAS, May 11-17, 1998 has been designated National Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Week, and WHEREAS, Osteoporosis is above-thinning disease which is associated with more than one million fractures per year thereby creating a devastating impact on a person's independence and quality of life, and WHEREAS, Osteoporosis is responsible for over $10,000,000 in health care costs for long-term treatment and rehabilitation, and WHEREAS, the Osteoporosis Screening Center for South Lake will hold a free Osteoporosis Fair will be held the morning of Saturday, May 16 in Jenkins Auditorium, and NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Pool Mayor of the City of Clermont, Florida hereby proclaim May 11-17, 1998 as NATIONAL OSTEOPOROSIS AWARENESS AND PREVENTION WEEK and urge all citizens to become familiar with the prevention of this disease and participate in the Osteoporosis Fair on May 16, 1998.
