Head Start Awareness Month
WHEREAS, Lake Community Action Agency, Inc., anon-profit corporation
since February 6, 1966, directs and oversees the HEAD START PROGRAM in Lake
County; and
WHEREAS, Head Start is a comprehensive child development program for
low-income children ages three through five; and
WI~REAS, Head Start emphasizes and provides programs in education,
social services, parental education and. involvement, nutrition, physical and mental
health, and dental services; and
WIH:REAS, October 1996 has been designated as Head Start Awareness
Month, in recognition of the benefits and services provided to local communities by
• the Head Start Program; and
WHEREAS, on Friday, October 11, 1996 Lake Community Action Agency,
Inc. hosts a tour of its Head Start Centers and Resource Center to familiarize citizens
within Lake County of the programs it provides; and
W~~REAS, Head Start has continued to expand its opportunity for pre-school
children with the opening of the new Eustis Child Development Center in December
of 1996,
NOW, THEREFORE, I Robert A. Pool by virtue of the authority vested in
me as Mayor of the City of Clermont in the State of Florida do hereby proclaim the
month of October 1996 as
Head Start Awareness Month
in the City of Clermont, and urge all citizens; governments; businesses; and other
civic, social and professional organizations in Lake County to recognize and applaud
the merits, benefits, and accomplishments of the Head Start Program, and urge them
to continue to support this program and its endeavors to provide quality services to
children and .their families in Lake County.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal
of the City of Clermont to be affixed at Clermont this $Ih day of September in the
year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and ninety six.
