At a meeting of the City Council held in the City Hall at Clermont, Lake County, Florida, on the 3rd day of May, 1955, at which there were present W. W Boyd, Mayor, Ellis Konsler, Earl Winston, Axel Olivenbaum, Russell Grant and Harley Beals, Councilmen, and A. M. Johnson, City Clerk, T. C. Cork, Chairman of the Hospital Board of South Lake Memorial Hospital, appeared before the council representing the Clermont Welfare League, a non-profit corporation, that has been and is now operating South "Lake Memorial Hospital under a contract with the City of Clermont, and stated as follows: That the Welfare League, acting through the Hospital Board, had found it necessary to the continued service of the hospital to the community that the building in which the same is now operated, be enlarged by constructing an addition to the same, and that the Hospital Board had entered into a contract for the construction of additions to the building for which it had contracted and agreed to pay the sum of $57,000.00, and that it had raised, by public subscription, approximately $30,000.00 to be used in paying for the construction of said additions and the equipment and fur- nishings thereof. That it was necessary that the Clermont Welfare League borrow an additional sum of approximately $27,000.00 to be secured by a mortgage of the hospital property. That it was desired that the City of Clermont convey the present hospital with the lands set apart for the use of the same to Clermont Welfare League, a non- profit corporation, and that the said Clermont Welfare League, as the owner of said property, to make, execute and deliver a mortgage of said premises to secure the payment of a loan to be obtained on said hospital property, not to exceed $30,000.00. Upon consideration of the statement made by the repre- sentative of the South Lake Memorial Hospital and the Clermont Welfare League, the Council upon motion duly made and seconded, unan- imously resolved as follows: A. That the City of Clermont does accept the proposition made by Clermont Welfare League and endorse the action taken by said League in increasing the size of the building and the facilities to be used by South Lake Memorial Hospital, and on behalf of the people .., - -- of the City of Clermont~ the City Council did express to said Clermont Welfare League its gratitude and thanks for the interest and constructive work being done by said League in the promotion of the health and well being of the people of this community. B. That the City of Clermont~ by its Council regularly assembled~ does hereby authorize and direct that the Mayor and Clerk of the City of Clermont execute and deliver to the Clermont Welfare League~ a non-profit corporation~ a deed conveying to said non-profit corporation the properties set apart for the use of said hospital~ and that Clermont Welfare League be authorized and di- rected to execute and deliver to such person~ firm or corporation~ as would loan the necessary funds to pay for the additions to said hospital not provided for by donations obtained by the Clermont Welfare League~ not to exceed the sum of $30~OOO.OO C. That upon the completion of said hospital building and after said mortgage has been executed and all payments made for the erection of said hospital with furnishings and equipment therein~ that the Clermont Welfare League do reconvey said premises to the City of Clermont~ and that the operation of said ho~pital be continued by the Clermont Welfare League under the terms and con- ditions of the contract heretofore entered into between the City of Clermont and the said Clermont Welfare League.
