Hero Month, Day City of Clermont
Proclamation

Wh ereas, Florida's Blood Centers and the Van Duzer Foundation, both not -for- profit entities, are
organizing blood drives during the month of November 2010, and
h ereas, Florida's Blood Centers operate in twenty -one Florida counties and numerous
municipalities, including ours, and
W hereas, Florida's Blood Centers, the Van Duzer Foundation and the Clermont City Council •
' challenging other Florida cities to organize blood drives with Florida's Blood Centers during "BE A
HERO MONTH" in November 2010, and
Wh ereas, Ou r commmunity requires a reliable blood supply for use in lifesaving medical treatments,
and statistics have .shown char one pint of blood can help save the lives of three individuals, making the
• donation of blood a simple way to help save lives and positively impact the community, and
"Whereas, `BE A HERO MONTH" and "BE A HERO DAY" will increase awareness of the
critical need for blood donations and celebrates the generosity and gift of live provided by those self -
sacrificing individuals among us who volunteer to donate their blood for the sake of other members of our
community, and
• " Whereas, The observation of "BE A HERO MONTH" and `BE A HERO DAY" provide
excellent opportunities for our residents to work together to save lives in our conununity, and
'Whereas, we urge our citizens to participate in `BE A HERO MONTH" and BE A HERO
DAY" and to donate blood for the benefit of those in need.
No'W, Therefore, 1, Harold S. Turville, Mayor of Clermont Florida, do hereby proclaim the
month of November 20I0 as "BE A HERO MONTH" and November I, 20I0 as "BE A HERO DAY"
and encourage the promotion of and support for these events within ourcommunity.
