Caribbean American Heritage Month City of Clermont
Proclamation
Whereas, during Caribbean American Heritage Month, we celebrate the great
contributions of Caribbean Americans to the fabric of our nation; and
Whereas, our nation has thrived as a country of immigrants and we are more vibrant
and hopeful because of the talent and values they bring; and
Whereas, these individuals are justly proud of their Caribbean roots, and they enrich
the American experience by sharing their traditions, history, and values; and
Whereas, we are united by our common values and by the many ways in which
people from the Caribbean have shaped our state as members of our Armed Forces, with
special recognition to Haiti for their role in the Battle of Savannah; and
Whereas, members of the Florida Legislature and citizens celebrated their culture on
February 8, 2012 at the Capitol; and
Whereas, during the month of June, we honor the friendship between the United
States and the Caribbean; and
NOW, Therefore, I, Harold S. Turville, Mayor of Clermont, Florida, do hereby
extend greetings and best wishes to all observing June 2012 as
Caribbean .American 3- eritage Jtlonth
In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the
